Lust For Me, Daddy's Good Girl novel Chapter 20

I nodded slowly. “I have another question.”

His eyebrow arched, amused. “Go on.”

I asked the one that had been clawing at the back of my mind since the moment I met him.

“Who is Hades?”

Alec opened the door of the sleek black car and stepped aside, giving me a polite smile.

“Thank you,” I murmured, trying to match his warmth with a smile of my own, though it felt fake.

He nodded, and I slid into the backseat, the cool leather brushing my thighs beneath Hades’ shirt and the jeans that still clung to me like a second skin. Alec moved around to the front and got it settling into the driver’s seat.

The engine purred to life. He adjusted the mirror and glanced at m through it. “Where should I drop you off?”

I blinked.

Where should I go?

I couldn’t go back to Matthew’s.

That part of my life was done. No matter how much a part of my heart still wanted to be with him. I couldn’t walk back into that house like nothing had happened. I wasn’t the same girl who lived here a day ago.

That left one option.

My hand trembled slightly as I thought of the only place I had left, my uncle’s house.

The idea of squeezing back into that space, surrounded by my aunt and cousins, made my skin crawl. I hadn’t lived there in over

a year. Moving in with Matthew had felt like a promise that things were finally getting better.

Now, everything was in reverse.

“Violet?” Alec’s voice called gently from the front.

I snapped out of it and looked up. His gaze met mine in the mirror.

“Are you okay?”

I forced a smile. “Yes, I am.”

He didn’t press further. I gave him Matthew’s address, there were still a few things I needed to pack from the house.

Alec raised an eyebrow, but didn’t comment. He simply nodded.

The car pulled into motion, gliding down the city road. I barely noticed the buildings, and the people outside. It was all just background.

My thoughts were louder.

Everything had happened so fast, and now, with space between me and Hades, my mind finally had the chance to think about everything.

I clenched my hands in my lap, my nails digging into my palms.

I still couldn’t believe it was real. Nora had pulled me into that pool on purpose. And Matthew, the man I trusted with my heart, chose to save her instead of me.

He didn’t save the girl he dated for four years. The girl he said he would marry after her graduation. The one who believed every promise he made. Who gave him all of her. He left me to drown. An even after that, Matthew didn’t believe me. He detended her like always. What do I even expect, she was his childhood sweetheart, his precious first love.

I turned my head and stared out the window.

On the sidewalk, a couple stood close together, laughing as they took a selfie. He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before kissing her forehead.

I looked away, and my throat tightened.

Matthew used to do that. He used to make me feel like I was the only girl he saw in a room full of people.

Used to.

Everything I thought we had was just a story I told myself, something I clung to because I was too afraid to face the truth. I was always second place. And the worst part? That day, I would’ve forgiven him if he had just apologized.

I hoped he’d say, “I chose wrong. I’m sorry. I was scared, and I made a mistake.”

But he never did. The only person who looked at me like I mattered in the last few hours, was an older man who properly ruined my body for anyone else. Even if it was just one night, Hades pulled me out of the fantasy I had locked myself in for too long.

He didn’t save me just from the water. He saved me from myself.

A few minutes later, the car slowed and stopped.

“We’re here, Violet,” Alec said, his voice calm as he looked at me through the rearview mirror.

I lifted my head slowly to see the mansion.

The place I once imagined would be the beginning of my future.

“Thank you,” I said quietly.

My fingers curled around the door handle, but I hesitated. I turned o glance at Alec in the mirror, and for a brief moment, I

swore I saw his blue eyes flash.

He smiled. “Do you need something?”

I closed my eyes for a second, then opened them.

“No, I just wanted to say something.”

He waited.

“You said Hades can be many things, it depends who you are to him, a stranger, a threat, a deal, or amusement, but to me,

Hades isn’t a devil.”

He blinked, genuinely surprised.

“To me, he’s a savior.”

Alec’s smile faltered for a second. He looked at me fully now, eyes searching mine like he didn’t quite believe what he heard.

“I don’t know why he helped me last night,” I added. “Maybe I was just a game to him. Maybe he was amused with my situation, but at the end of the day, he helped me when no one else did.”

“So to me, Hades is a good man.”

A moment passed, and Alec’s lips twitched into a smirk.

“I see,” he said. “I’m happy, because for the first time, someone sees Hades as a good person. Thank you, Violet.”

I didn’t know why he was thanking me. But I nodded, and steppedut of the car. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked toward the gate, but I didn’t look back.

The iron gate stood tall in front of me. I knocked lightly, and moments later, Mateo, the head security guard, walked up and opened the gate. His face softened the moment he saw me.

“Good morning, Miss Violet,” he said with a polite bow.

I gave him a small smile. “Good morning, Mateo.”

I stepped forward, but his voice caught me.

“M-Miss…”

I paused. “Is something wrong?”

He looked conflicted. “It’s just… Mr. Matthew isn’t around.”

I stared at him, expression unreadable.

“I’m not looking for Matthew,” I said simply. “I came to get my things. You don’t have to worry about me.”

He hesitated, lips parting like he wanted to say more, but I was already walking.

It was better this way.

If Matthew wasn’t here, there would be no drama. I could just collect my things and leave quietly.

I pressed the doorbell. After a few seconds, the heavy door creaked open.

Sofia stood there, looking at me in surprise. “Miss Violet?TM

I gave her a small smile. “Hello, Sofia. I just came to get a few things. I’ll be our soon.”

She stepped aside, and I entered.

I walked past the hallway, I was halfway through the stairs when a voice cut through the silence.

“Oh, look who it is.”

I froze, and my heart stopped.

“It’s the one who ran away from home,” the voice cooed.

I slowly turned my head toward the stairs.

Nora.

She was standing at the top of the staircase in nothing but a shirt.

Matthew’s shirt.
