Mr. Hades how arriend

Mr. Hades has arrived

Hades

I never liked easy things.

They bored me.

The chase, the grind, the risk, that’s where the thrill was. The higher the stakes, the sharper my focus. If something was handed to me, I didn’t want it. I wanted to take it. And taking it wasn’t enough. I needed to earn it, break it, and claim it.

That’s probably why I’ve always been a monumental headache to my father.

He used to call me impulsive, reckless, and unstable. And he wasn’ wrong.

When I was fourteen, I got bored and decided to spice up one of his quarterly board meetings. So I snuck into the kitchen and had the house staff swap the sparkling water with a little experimental digestive I was mixing for fun.

The entire boardroom emptied out in ten minutes. Suits flew as old men clutched their stomachs and bolted for the bathrooms like their lives depended on it

I sat on the counter, laughing so hard I could barely breathe, the camera clutched in my hands. To this day, it’s still the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

My father didn’t share the sentiment.

I got grounded for a month, but I’d do it again.

At nineteen, I finally pushed him too far. We were at one of those boring family dinners. I said something that set him off.

He slammed his glass down so hard the rim cracked.

“If you think you’re so perfect,” he growled, “then go build a company as big as mine in four years. Then maybe I’ll take you seriously.”

He probably expected me to laugh, or sulk. Maybe to start a petty argument and storm out. But I didn’t. I looked him dead in the eye and smiled.

The next morning, I was gone.

I left a note on the dining room table.

‘See you in four years, old man.’

In just four years, I returned with a company worth over ten billion I’ll never forget the look on his face, it was deeply satisfying to see the shock written all over it.

The mansion loomed above me. I shoved my hands into my pockets and walked toward the door, Alec trailing behind me.

The moment we reached the entrance, the front doors opened.

“Good evening, Mr. Hades. Mr. Alec.” The old butler bowed.

“Samuel,” I said, a smile tugging at my lips. “How are you?”

The butler was one of the few people I’d never once considered disposable. He’d looked after me as a child, even with my troublesome personality,

“I’ve been doing well, Mr. Hades,” he said, straightening. “Pardon me for asking, but how are you? Have you been eating properly?”

I jerked my head toward Alec. “I’m good. This guy makes sure I liv like a human. He’s like a nagging wife.”

Alec rolled his eyes. “As his secretary,” he said with emphasis, “I sure Mr. Hades is adequately fed, dressed, and occasionally reminded to sleep like a functioning human.”

Samuel laughed. “Good, good. Thank you, Mr. Alec, for taking care of him. Mr. Hades hates being told what to do. I guess he has a soft spot for you.”

I smirked and ruffled Alec’s hair. He was a bit leaner and shorter than me. “You should feel honored.”

Alec swatted my hand away, shooting me a dry look.

“Thank you for the attention. I’m so lucky.” His sarcasm practically dripped off each word.

“They’re already inside, waiting for you, sir,” Samuel said, knowing full well I’d make them wait if I wanted to.

“Of course they are,” I murmured, stepping into the house. The moment I crossed the doorway, I was nearly blinded by the

shine.

The walls, the chandelier, even the trim on the furniture looked like it belonged in a palace built by someone with more money

than taste.

I glanced around.

“I have to say,” I drawled, “the old man’s taste has gotten worse.

Behind me, Alec muttered, “It’s probably his new wife.”

I stopped mid-step.

“Oh?” I turned slightly. “Another one?”

Alec sighed, like I was giving him a headache. “I told you a month ago.”

I shrugged. “You know I only remember things that matter.”

Alec rolled his eyes. “Funny how ‘things that matter’ includes knowing how to operate every vibrator ever made.”

I grinned. “Because that does matter. I take pride in keeping my women satisfied.”

The closer I got to the dining hall, the louder the noise became. Voices overlapped, each one desperate to be heard over the other.

“Father, did you see the deal I closed with the Harrington Group?” one voice bragged. “They’ve already asked to schedule another negotiation with me next month.”

“Big deal,” a woman snapped back. “I had dinner with the First Lady yesterday. We discussed international collaborations. I’m closing on three contracts this week alone.”

Ah. The usual circus.
