Chapter 131

Luna’s POV

Despite my skepticism. I followed Katie away from the field like she wanted. I honestly had no idea why I was ever bothering. Maybe it was because she had looked genuinely nervous when she approached itse or it could be because a part of me thought she had something important to say regarding the upcoming meet.

Whatever the reason was, I allowed her to lead me away from the track and toward a quieter area where nobody would overhear us. The further we walked, the more confused I became because Katie kept glancing around like she was checking o make sure nobody was watching us. It was strange behavior, especially coming from someone who normally acted like I barely existed. By the time we were finally far enough away from the field that the sounds of practice became distant: I had

lreacy lost my patience.

folded my arms across my chest and looked directly at her. There was no point dragging this out any longer I still needed o find the senior athlete I was looking for, and practice was going to start soon. Whatever Katie wanted to say had better be

worth the trouble.

What exactly did you want to talk about?” I asked. “And make it quick because I still need to get to practice.”

she looked strangely nervous. Her fingers kept fidgeting with the sleeve of her jacket, and she avoided my eyes for a second

efore finally looking at me. Then, to my absolute disbelief, she asked the stupidest question I had heard all day

Are you really dating Jace Callahan?” she asked, and for several long seconds. I simply stared at her.

Then my jaw dropped. Out of everything she could have possibly pulled me away from the field to discuss, that was what he wanted to know?

Wait,” I said in disbelief. “Did you seriously drag me all the way over here just to ask me if I’m dating Jace Callahan?”

Katie didn’t look embarrassed. If anything, she looked even more determined. “You should answer the question.” she esponded. “I have a reason for asking.”

stared at her like she had lost her mind.

Part of me wanted to turn around and walk away immediately. I had actual problems, and I was desperately trying to find, someone who could teach me how not to accidentally expose the existence of werewolves. Meanwhile, Katie had apparently decided to dedicate her day to investigating my love life. It was ridiculous, completely ridiculous. Still, despite my unitation,

couldn’t help being curious.

There was something strange about the way she was acting. It felt like she wasn’t asking out of simpiegossip. It felt more personal than that. Letting out a frustrated sigh, I decided to answer her just so I could get this conversation over with.

‘No, I’m not dating Jace, I responded. “And even if I was, it wouldn’t be any of your business.”

Katie frowned immediately. Then her expression shifted into confusion, almost like my answer wasn’t the one she had expected.

“If you’re not dating Jace,” she asked, “then are you dating Theo Vale?”

My jaw dropped again, and at that point I genuinely began questioning my decision-making skills. I could not believe that I had allowed myself to think this girl had something worthwhile to discuss I let out a scoff and shook my head because honestly. I was done. Completely done.

I cannot believe this nonsense,” I muttered.

I stopped walking. Slowly, I turned back around, and confusion immediately replaced my irtation.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” I asked.

Without saying another word, Katie yanked her phone out and practically shoved it inte my face. The sudden movement startled me enough that I almost stepped backward. Looking down at the screen. I immediately felt my stomach sink. It was a picture of me getting into Theo’s bright red sports car. The picture had clearly been taken from a distance, but it was still obvious that it was me, and worse, it had been taken on the day Theo and I went on our date.

My mind immediately started racing. I had specifically arranged to meet Theo away from carnpus for exactly this reason. I had gone out of my way to avoid being seen, and yet somehow Katie had still gotten a picture. The realization irritated me more than I could properly describe. It felt like no matter what I did lately, somebody was always watching.

etting out a long sigh, I rubbed my forehead, then I looked back up at her. “What exactly do you want from me?” I asked Or better yet, what exactly is it that you’re trying to say?”

something changed in Katie’s expression. The nervousness that had been there earlier disappeared completely, and it was dlmost unsettling how quickly it vanished. One second she looked anxious, the next she looked angry, and not your regular ingry either.

There was something almost obsessive in her eyes. Something that immediately put me on edge.

Are you with Theo?” she demanded.

The change in her tone caught me completely off guard. She sounded furious, not curious or concerned, but furious.

Katie took a step forward. “I’ve spent days wondering what to do with this picture,” she continued. “Then suddenly another ›icture appears of you hugging Jace, and now it’s obvious what’s happening.”

blinked, then blinked again because I genuinely couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

Katie folded her arms tightly across her chest. “It looks like you’re two-timing both Theo and Jace,” she said. “And I can’t just stand by and let a bitch like you get away with that.”

For several seconds I was too stunned to speak because this situation was so unbelievably insane. Was this woman actually serious? Had she really built this entire fantasy in her head and somehow convinced herself it was reality?

Katie pointed her phone toward me again. “Unless you’re willing to tell me what’s really happening,” she continued, “and it had better be the truth. Confess to me.”

I stared at her, then I shook my head slowly. Honestly, I had reached my limit because there was only so much stupidity a person could tolerate in a single day.

“Go to hell,” I told her. “And leave me out of your journey.”

This time I meant it. I turned around again, fully intending to walk away no matter what she said next, but unfortunately, before I could leave. Katie spoke again.

“Do you remember when you got locked in the locker room?” She asked.

The words hit me like a slap, and my entire body froze. Slowly, I turned around, and every bit of irritation vanished. Now
