Marked by the Alpha Team (Luna Merrick) novel Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Thirdperson POV

  1. 55.

As soon as Luna disappeared completely from sight the atmosphere around the football field changed. The ensotional tension she had left behind lingered in the air, making it impossible for anyone involved to senply move on and pretend that nothing had happened. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Theo stood where Luna had eft ham, staring in the direction she had gone while trying to ignore the painful feeling settling inside his chest

The image of tears in her eyes refused to leave his mind. No matter how many times fre replayed the conversation the outcome remained the same. He had hurt her, and worse, he had hurt her in a way that couldn’t be undone with a simple apology. The slap hadn’t bothered him. If anything, he felt like he deserved worse, but what bathered him was the bra had given him afterward. It was the look of someone whose trust had been shattered. He had spent days trying to get to her, trying to prove that he wasn’t the careless idiot she believed him to be, only to watch everything come crushing ne because of a stupid decision he had made weeks ago.

Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t the only person standing there. Jace had been barely holding himself together anothe walked away. Watching her cry had been difficult enough, and watching her cry because of one of his closest friendssas even worse. The moment Luna was gone, Jace finally turned toward Theo. and unlike earlier. he made absolutely no effort o hide how irritated he was. His expression was hard, his jaw was tight, and his patience was hanging by a thread

What the hell did you do?he demanded.

Theo didn’t even look at him immediately. Instead, he let out a long breath and rubbed his face with one hand. Norma ne might have snapped back, and normally he might have made some sarcastic comment, but today, he simply doin: hate he energy.

It’s none of your business,he responded flatly.

The answer immediately made Jace angrier because he knew Theo well enough to recognize that particular tone it was one Theo used when he already knew he was wrong.

Before Jace could say anything else, Theo turned as if he intended to walk away and end the conversation right there Unfortunately for him, Ryder had already reached the end of his patience.

Ryder stepped forward and grabbed Theo’s arm before he could leave. The force behind the movement made bes immediately, and when Theo looked at him, he found Ryder glaring at him in a way that was surprisingly in mole

At the moment, however, he looked genuinely angry. What did you do? Ryder asked.

His voice was calm, the kind of calmness that usually came right before someone lost their temper

you pull this time that made her that upset?he continued.

Theo closed his eyes briefly. For the first time all day, he actually wished someone would just leave birt

felt terrible, and being interrogated by his friends wasn’t helping

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he looked past Ryder and toward Orion The movement momedung boghvend

attention.

Theo held Orion’s gaze for a moment. Then he shook his head Doesn’t he already know be ch

The questions immediately made face frown Ryder hooked confused and even Knox taped up webrow

Theo continued staring at Orion So why don’t you have Orion tell your hewked to penyany

For a brief moment silence settled over the group Theo pulled his tria

Just please leave me alone Theo said quietly

Then he turned around and warted walking back teard the field, and none of then followed Instrut, all eyes shed toward Onon, and the sudden attention irritated him slightly

Unfortunately. Theo wasn’t wrong.

The moment Luna asked whether Theo had been responsible for the locker room incident. Orion had already connected the dots. The problem was that he also knew exactly how explosive the truth would be if he explained it in detail jace was already angry, and Ryder looked ready to punch somebody. Even Knox appeared! more interested than usual, which was never a good sign. If Orion explained exactly what Theo had admitted to doing, there was a very real possibility that practice would end with somebody getting beaten unconscious.

What happened?Jace asked.

Orion remained silent for a second, carefully choosing his words. Theo pulled a stupid prank a while ago he finally responded.

Jace narrowed his eyes, and Ryder crossed his arms, but neither looked convinced.

Orion continued anyway. It was an expensive prank.he explained. And I’m guessing Luna just found out he was responsible.

That explanation wasn’t technically a lie, it just left out a lot of details.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for Jace. A prank? Jace repeated.

Orion nodded. A very stupid prank. he responded.

The tension remained, and nobody looked satisfied, especially Ryder. The fact that Luna had reacted so strongly made in difficult to believe that the situation was as simple as Orion was making it sound.

Even so, Orion wasn’t about to elaborate, not here, not in front of half the football team, who also had super beining and were super nosy. The last thing he needed was for the whole team to know that they all shared a mate, and this whole d was as a result of that.

Eventually, he gestured toward the field. We’re drawing too much attention,he said. Let’s get back

The rest of the guys didn’t move immediately, and the reluctance was obvious Jace wanted answers, and Knox looked mildly curious, but still, Orion had a point. They were attracting attention, a les of longer they stood there, the worse things would get.

Eventually. Jace let out a slow breath, then he nodded. Fine

Ryder followed suit a second later, Knos shrugged, and Orion turned and started walking back

One by one, the others followedt Unfortunately the rest of the football team had already become had happened. The moment the group started returning several players immediate look. Fasa e on practice
