Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Luna’s POV
I woke up expecting to feel Knox lying beside me, and for the first few peaceful seconds after opening m eyes, I smiled without even thinking about it. The events of last night came back to me one after another making my cheeks warm almost immediately, and I found myself staring at the wooden ceiling while wondering if everything had actually happened or if I had somehow dreamed the whole thing.
The bed was still warm, the room still carried the smell of wood and fresh air that seemed to belong only this little cabin, and everything looked exactly the way I remembered it before I fell asleep. Still smiling myself, I slowly turned my head toward the other side of the bed, expecting to find Knox asleep beside m but instead, I was met with an empty mattress. My smile slowly disappeared as I blinked several times, wondering if he had simply gotten up before me.
I sat there for another few seconds, listening carefully for any sound that might tell me where he was, bu cabin was strangely quiet. At first I figured he had probably gone to the bathroom, so I pushed the blanke aside, sat up, and called his name.
“Knox?” I waited for a response, but none came. Thinking he might not have heard me, I called him again little louder this time. “Knox?” The silence that answered me made a tiny knot begin to form in my stoma didn’t want to overthink things, but after everything that had happened yesterday, waking up completely alone in an unfamiliar place wasn’t exactly comforting.
I climbed out of bed a little too quickly, nearly stumbling over my own feet before I steadied myself. Only then did I remember that I wasn’t exactly dressed to go wandering around, so I hurriedly searched for the oversized shirt I had worn the night before. Once I slipped it back on, I quickly made my way toward the bathroom, convinced that Knox had to be inside. I knocked lightly before pushing the door open, only to the room completely empty, and my heart sank a little more.
I checked every corner of the cabin even though there weren’t many places to hide in a one-room house, there was no sign of him anywhere. Trying not to panic, I hurried toward the front door and stepped outs The cool morning air immediately greeted me, carrying with it the scent of damp earth and trees. My eye instinctively searched the small clearing in front of the cabin, and that was when I noticed something that made my stomach drop.
Knox’s motorcycle was gone,
I froze where I stood, staring at the empty space where it had been parked yesterday. For one horrible seco every ridiculous possibility rushed into my head at once. Had he really left? Had he decided that everything that happened between us last night had been a mistake? Worse still, had he actually left me stranded in the middle of nowhere with no phone, no transportation, and absolutely no idea how to get back to Blackridge
I immediately shook my head, almost annoyed with myself for thinking something so unreasonable. No, th didn’t sound like Knox at all. Everything I had seen from him since yesterday suggested that he was blunt, quiet, and difficult to read, but not cruel. None of the things that happened with him yesterday matched the image of someone who would abandon me in the middle of the woods just because he felt like it.
Even so, the longer I stood there without seeing him, the harder it became to ignore the anxiety building inside me. My mind kept jumping between trying to trust him and imagining all the terrible reasons why he might have disappeared so early in the morning without saying anything. I hugged my arms around myself,

partly because of the cool breeze and partly because I suddenly felt strangely alone.
Just as I was beginning to consider whether I should walk toward the road and see if I could somehow way back, I heard the faint rumble of a motorcycle engine somewhere in the distance. My head snappe toward the narrow road almost instantly, and within moments, the sound grew louder until Knox’s fam motorcycle came into view between the trees.
The moment I saw him, I let out a long breath that I hadn’t even realized I had been holding. Relief wa over me so strongly that my shoulders relaxed all at once. Knox slowed the motorcycle before bringing stop in front of the cabin, switched off the engine, and removed his helmet. The first thing he noticed standing outside staring at him.
He raised one eyebrow in mild confusion before climbing off the bike and walking toward me with a g bag hanging from one hand. “Why are you standing outside?” he asked as though nothing unusual had happened. His calm expression somehow made me feel both relieved and slightly annoyed at the same
“I woke up and couldn’t find you,” I replied honestly. “Then I noticed your motorcycle was gone, so for second I thought… well… I thought maybe you had ditched me.”
The corner of Knox’s mouth lifted into a small amused smile before he let out a quiet chuckle. “Why w you even think that?” he asked. Without waiting for me to answer, he lifted the grocery bag slightly. “Th wasn’t anything here for breakfast, so I had to ride to the nearest store, which is about forty minutes aw from here.”
He shifted the bag to his other hand before continuing. “I probably should’ve told you before leaving, b were sleeping pretty peacefully, and I didn’t want to wake you up just to tell you I was buying food.”
I felt a little embarrassed after hearing his explanation because, now that he mentioned it, it sounded perfectly reasonable. “It’s fine,” I said quietly, offering him a small smile. “I just… didn’t know where you
He simply nodded before walking toward the cabin door, and I followed behind him. Somehow, the und feeling I’d had only moments ago completely disappeared. We stepped back inside, and Knox immediat placed the grocery bag on the small kitchen counter. Before I could ask what he had bought, he reached the pocket of his jacket and pulled something out.
To my surprise, it was my phone. He walked over and held it out to me. “I hope you don’t mind,” he said. took your phone with me because I figured out my charger wasn’t compatible with it, and I needed to kn what charger to buy.”
I blinked in surprise before taking the phone from him. “You bought me a charger?”
“You needed one.”
Only then did I remember that my phone had died yesterday before I even met Knox on the roadside. I h completely forgotten about it. Suddenly, Ivy’s face flashed through my mind, and guilt immediately settle my stomach. She must have been worried sick by now. Considering everything that had happened over th last few days, disappearing for an entire night without saying a word definitely wasn’t something I would normally do.
“Thank you,” I said sincerely. “I completely forgot about my phone.”
Knox simply gave a small nod before turning back toward the grocery bag while I hurried over to the near
