Chapter 244: Exactly Like Her
(Aurora’s POV)
“Not a passing resemblance. I mean *exactly*. I’ve seen photos, but photos don’t” She stopped. “In person it’s something else entirely.”
“Your aunt,” I said.
“My father’s sister. She passed away years ago.” Chloe leaned forward slightly. “I’m sorry, I should’ve introduced myself properly. Chloe Langford. My grandmother is Joyce Langford. She mentioned you said you helped her when she collapsed at an event a while back.”
I sat up a little straighter. “That was your grandmother?”
“She’s been trying to find you ever since. She’ll be so pleased to know I ran into you.” Chloe smiled, then caught herself. “Wait. Langford. Does that name mean anything to you?”
It did. I kept my face neutral. “I know the family name.”
“Then you know Sienna is my cousin.” She said it without hesitation, and then immediately held up a hand. “Before you say anything – we are not close. We have never been close. She figured out how to work every
adult in that family before she was ten years old. Perfect smile, perfect manners, right up until the moment
no one was watching.” She paused. “I always knew exactly what she was. I just couldn’t prove it.”
I laughed before I could stop myself.
Chloe smiled. “I also want to say – whatever Tiffany did, I know she’s been carrying it. She’s not a bad person. She just made a bad choice.”
“She apologized.”
“Good.” Chloe looked at me again, that same searching expression. “I keep coming back to it. The resemblance. It’s not just coloring or bone structure. It’s something else. The way you hold yourself.” She tilted her head. “If I didn’t know it was impossible, I’d be asking whether my aunt had a daughter nobody
knew about.”
The words landed quietly.
I didn’t say anything. I didn’t know what to say. It was the kind of thought that didn’t ask to be invited – it

Chapter 294 Esadily Lille Fren
I stood. “Then we’re done here.”
Chloe walked us to the door. “It was good to meet you, Aurora. I mean that.”
“You too,” I said.
And I meant it.
(Author’s POV)
Olivia and Aurora left the boutique at twenty past four.
At half past, Liam held the door open for Fiona and followed her inside.
They had no idea. Neither did Liam. He glanced around the showroom with the mild disinterest of a man who had agreed to this appointment to keep the peace, and Fiona moved immediately toward the nearest rack of samples.
Ten minutes apart. That was all.
(Aurora’s POV)
We walked along the street outside, the afternoon cooling around us.
“So,” Olivia said. “I ran into Liam.”
I looked at her. “When?”
“Class reunion, a few weeks ago. He just appeared.” She shrugged, but the shrug was too practiced. “He’s engaged. Looks like he’s doing well.”
“How did it feel?”
She was quiet for a moment. “Honestly? Nothing. Which surprised me, because I thought it would feel like something.” She glanced sideways at me. “I think I expected to feel sad, or angry, or at least something. But I just looked at him and thought okay. Good for you.”
“Maybe that’s what it looks like when you’ve actually moved on.”
“Maybe.” She kicked a small stone off the sidewalk. “Or maybe it’s because I came home that night and Gavin had left the kitchen an absolute disaster and I spent twenty minutes furious about the dishes, and there’s just no room to be sad about someone from five years ago when you’re that annoyed about the present.”
I laughed. “Gavin’s good for you.”
Olivia made a face. “Don’t start.”
“I’m just saying-”
“He left a pan soaking in the sink for *three days*, Aurora. Three days.” She held up three fingers. “I am not ready to sing his praises.”
“Don’t tell him I said that
(Author’s POV)
Three days passed. The Everett family said nothing.
Jasper sat across from Sienna at breakfast on the fourth morning and set down his coffee cup with more
force than necessary
“Did you reach out to Serena?”
