Marry Ex's Billionaire Uncle After Divorce (Aurora and Jasper) novel Chapter 280

Chapter 245 You Think She’s a Samt?

Chapter 245: You Think She’s a Saint?

(Author’s POV)

Sienna kept her eyes on her plate. “She’s been hard to get hold of. She’s busy.”

“You said you’d try.”

“I did try.”

Jasper looked at her for a long moment. She didn’t look up.

He pushed back his chair and stood. “Then I’ll go myself.”

He drove to Everett Global’s headquarters that morning and gave his name at the front desk. The receptionist made a call, spoke briefly, and told him someone would be right down.

He waited two hours in the lobby before they moved him to a meeting room.

At noon, Aurora came down to the building’s ground-floor café for coffee. She crossed through the parking structure and stopped.

She recognized the car immediately. Dark, sleek, a plate she’d memorized years ago without meaning to.

She stood there for three seconds. Then she got her coffee and went back upstairs.

Jasper sat in the meeting room until three in the afternoon. No water. No assistant. Just the hum of the ventilation system and the distant sound of the building going about its day without him.

When the door finally opened, it was Benny who walked in. He smiled pleasantly, said nothing explanatory, and led Jasper up to the executive floor.

Phineas’s office was large and very quiet. He was seated behind his desk, a stack of documents open in front of him, a pen moving across the page. He didn’t look up immediately. He finished what he was writing, set the pen down, and then looked at Jasper with the calm of a man who had not been waiting at

all.

“The project,” he said. “Is that what this is about?”

Jasper kept his voice level. “You know what it’s about. Eighteen months of development. Hundreds of millions in capital. Arthur encouraged me to back it himself.” He stopped. “We have history. Our families have history. Doesn’t that count for anything?”

Phineas leaned back in his chair.

He almost smiled.

“History,” he said. “Let’s talk about history.” He folded his hands on the desk. “You spent years married to Aurora. Cheated on her. Controlled her. Wore her down until she didn’t recognize herself. And your wife – your current wife – has made it her project to destroy Aurora every time she gets within reach. The fire wasn’t enough for you? Or should I go further back?”

Chapter 245 You Thank She’s a Saint?

Jasper’s jaw tightened. “That’s not-”

“You came here to appeal to my sense of family loyalty.” Phineas’s voice was even, almost pleasant. “I want you to understand something clearly. You and Sienna are a package. Whatever she does, you carry. I’ve never separated the two of you, and I’m not going to start now.”

“There’s been a misunderstanding.” Jasper’s voice had gone rigid. “I don’t believe Sienna would do what

you’re describing. Not to that degree.”

Phineas looked at him. The expression on his face was not anger. It was something quieter and more final

than anger.

“You can’t run a company,” he said. “And you don’t know your own wife.” He picked up his pen again. “Go home, Jasper. And when you get there, ask her yourself.” He paused, each word landing with deliberate calm. “You really think she’s some kind of saint?”

Phineas first saw Aurora at a healthcare industry summit.

She was young, clearly nervous – her hands gripped the edge of the podium for a half-second before she let go. But her eyes were bright. There was something in the way she looked out at the audience, not performing confidence so much as actually possessing it, that made him stop paying attention to everything else in the room.

He watched her for the entire presentation.

Afterward, he tracked down the event organizer and asked for her name. Just her name. Nothing else.

It was the first time in his adult life that a woman had made him do something that impulsive. He didn’t send anyone to investigate her background. He didn’t want to know her that way. He wanted to find out for

himself.

He never got the chance.

The second time he saw her, she was standing beside Jasper at some family function, laughing at something Jasper had said, her whole face lit up. He stood across the room and watched her look at that man like he was the only person worth looking at.

Arthur told him later, when he asked – casually, as if it barely mattered – that she was Jasper’s girlfriend. Jasper, who was a branch-line bastard with a borrowed last name and a company that ran on Everett money and Everett connections.

Phineas said nothing.

The third time was her wedding day. It was also the day he left for overseas. His car stopped outside the venue – not intentionally, just the route – and he watched through the window as she stepped out of a white car and walked into the hotel entrance. She was wearing white. She looked exactly as he remembered. Bright, and untouched by anything yet.

His driver reminded him about the flight.
