(Author’s POV)
With a choking, almost breaking voice, Mark started, "Ma’am~ ...... Mrs. Garcia~ .... Please~ ... please forgive me. I was such an idiot, a complete and utter fool for not reprimanding them for their actions and their loose tongue in time. I know I have caused a terrible mistake, but please~ ... I have been in this job since I was nineteen. I have worked really hard to achieve my position ...." While sobbing, he broke down, almost ready to kneel, "It has been eighteen years~ ...... eighteen years. I have given all my youth to this restaurant~ ... all of what I have~ ... all my past eighteen years. So, please~ ... have mercy on me, ma’am. Please don’t fire me over this one mistake. I beg of you. PLEASE~ ..."
Although the crowd was moved by his words but Amy’s face remained devoid of any emotion.
Dion, who had been seeing the chaotic mess from within the crowd, gazed at Amy and muttered, "So, this is Sebastian Garcia’s wife, my supposedly huge fan, Amy Garcia. This is interesting~ ...."
’Oie~ Dio~ .... I think I caught something even more interesting~ ... look, who do we have here? I bet it is a lucky day for someone, umm~ hmm~,’ Drey commented in a very peculiar tone.
In a very inconspicuous spot, a familiar person stood. Their eyes were glued to Amy’s back.
"Isn’t that Eli’s new friend, huhh~ ...... but, what is she doing here?" Dion added as he zeroed his sight on her hidden figure.
Wendy was well hidden behind the wall. Only a bit of her side profile was visible from where Dion was standing, but it was more than enough for him to recognize her. She was keenly watching the whole fiasco that was taking place, a look of utter shock plastered on her face.
"Let’s give Eli a hand, shall we? That fool brother of mine~ ...... he doesn’t even know that girl’s name yet," Dion muttered.
’I don’t see the point in why we shouldn’t, Dio. But don’t you think we should mind link Elio first and tell him about her?’ Drey asked.
"Nahhh~ ...... I will, but not at the moment. Let me assess the situation for him first. I want to see whether she is truly how Eli described her to be, or if she was just faking it in front of him at the seminar. You know the drill, right? We are always surrounded by those kinds of snobby people." Dion spoke. "If it is the former, then I will call Eli right away, but if it is the latter, then I don’t want my brother to be heartbroken over such a person."
’Ohh~ yeah, you surely have got a point there. Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go,’ Drey said. He was getting way more excited, treating it as some kind of game.
"I have already said what it is to be said and done what it is to be done. So, you’d better hurry up and go on your way. Don’t make a scene here. It will only harm you and your minions, Former Manager," Amy’s reply was crisp, cold, just like her expression. She was ruthless.
"Mrs. Garcia~ .... Can we please talk alone? I have something really important to show you. It can help you as well. So, please~ .... give me just five minutes~ ... five minutes of your time," Mark tried to throw a last chance at the dice. His words were only audible to Amy and Harris as he murmured.
Amy narrowed her eyes at his words. Seeing the change in her expression, though Mark’s face was filled with desperation, inwardly, he knew the fish had taken the bait. He thought that now he was going to be saved for sure. The trick has worked.
"Harris~ ...." Amy called to her bodyguard. He turned around and walked two steps closer to her, close enough to hear her instructions. She said something to him and then turned around and walked inside without a care. Her sweet, motherly facial expression was back again.
Harris looked at Mark and the two others and said, "Mrs. Garcia has given the orders. She will meet you." Hearing this, Mark was relieved. An instant smile appeared on his lips.
Then the bodyguard added, "She will~ ... but only after she is done with her business. Come to the restaurant at eight tonight. She will meet you then." Saying this, Harris went inside as well.
Seeing Amy coming inside, Wendy got a little flustered. She started walking to the other side, probably to hide.
When Wendy got to know that the previous restaurant belonged to Amy, she was left shell shocked. She then recalled her earlier statement and felt embarrassed. She didn’t want to be seen eavesdropping, so she rushed in the opposite direction.
Wendy, being her unpredictable self, smacked her mouth dramatically and said, "Sorry~ sorry~, my thoughts came out of my mouth, Mr. Everests. I just~ ..... couldn’t believe my luck, that’s all." She was thrilled to see Dion. "Yesterday, at the seminar held at the Crown Opulence, I was also attending it with my sister and friends. That’s when I saw you." She clarified.
In a theatrical voice, he uttered, "OHHHH really~ ....... You were also there? What a coincidence. I am sure it’s fate that we met."
Wendy suddenly remembered Amy and Myra were waiting in the private room, so she didn’t hear his last sentence at all. With a complicated expression, she conveyed, "I~ am really sorry ... but I need to be somewhere, Mr. Everests. But it was really nice to meet you in person. And~ ... You~ ... really are~ .... very handsome." Saying her piece, she turned around and started walking back.
Dion was left stupefied by her reaction. She was neither flirting with him like most others would do, nor did she converse with him in an alluring way. She didn’t even ask his contact information and just gave him a genuine compliment and simply walked away, being all carefree. He just couldn’t believe it.
Then all of a sudden, he remembered, he hadn’t even asked for her name yet.
Dion was about to call Wendy, but before that, she recalled something and halted her steps. Turning around, she looked his way and said, "Mr. Everests, please give my regards to your brother, Mr. Elio, as well."
"To Elio? Do you guys know each other?" Dion questioned, trying to assess her next words. She was way too different from what he had initially predicted her to be.
Wendy felt a little embarrassed, scratched the back of her neck awkwardly and said, "I can’t say we know each other. We just had a really pleasant conversation at the seminar. He was a truly kind and sweet person. I couldn’t even thank him properly."
Seeing the opportunity, Dion asked, "What name should I give him after giving your message to him?"
