Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers novel Chapter 318

Chapter 318: Why Are You Taking Two Samples?

(Author’s POV)

"Mrs. Garcia, it’s just a cold. Why do we need to be here?" Myra asked with a bewildered expression. Wendy shared the same sentiment. Though she was much more concerned about her sister’s well being than anything else, that’s why she refrained from saying anything.

On Amy’s orders, Harris had already arranged for a VIP ward in the most elusive hospital of Esteria and notified the hospital’s director beforehand about the purpose of their visit. So, as soon as they arrived, the hospital staff took them straight to the booked room rather than a doctor.

"What are you saying, Myra? It is absolutely necessary. We shouldn’t take any risks. Especially after the virus outbreak that happened a few years ago, we should be thorough. After all, you were fine when we met," Amy remarked. Her expression read, ’Whatever you say, but I won’t be taking no for an answer.’

But still, Myra was feeling extremely uncomfortable, so she tried to oppose, "Ma’am~ ... I know it isn’t an infection. We can just make an appointment with a general physician. Then I will be good to go."

To get out of the bizarre situation back then, she lied, and now she was stuck in another bizarre scenario. It was like ’out of the frying pan and into the fire’ kind of situation for her.

"It is better to be safe than sorry, dear. Don’t you think so?" Amy was adamant for some reason. As soon as she completed her words, a knock interrupted them. "Come in," Amy answered, her voice was authoritative.

Hearing her words, a team of doctors, consisting of three top medical experts, entered the room one by one. Both Myra and Wendy’s mouths agape, looking at the grand procession. Being stupefied was an understatement to say.

"Ma’am, all the medical experts you asked for are here," the bodyguard conveyed.

The hospital director, one of the three experts and also the Head of Neurology, stepped forward. A polite smile was plastered on the middle aged man’s face as he said, "Mrs. Garcia, I am honoured to make your acquaintance. As soon as we received the word that you required our assistance, we came here. What happened? Can you tell us the problems you are experiencing?"

"I am not the patient here. I called you for her," Amy pointed towards Myra, whose face was still covered with her scarf. "She is having a really bad cold and sore throat as well. She even experienced an episode of coughing violently. Please, give her a full body check up."

"Is there any other discomfort that you are having, Miss~?" the director asked, glancing in Myra’s direction.

Myra shook her head instantly, "It’s Myra, and I don’t have any other symptoms."

All the doctors looked at each other, some donned puzzling expressions, while some felt absolutely taken aback by the absurdity. The two resident doctors, who were standing at the very back, whispered to each other, "Just for normal cold symptoms, she called for the experts? Seriously?"

The other one added, "Dr. Partrick even came straight after performing a major surgery, which lasted for about ten hours. Just for this."

The one called Dr. Partrick, the hospital director, turned around and glared at them, urging them to shut their mouth at once. He then shifted his attention back to Myra and said, his voice all professional, "Miss Myra, please settle down and remove your scarf. I will do the examination."

Myra did as she was told. After taking her pulse and conducting the checkup, the hospital director, while removing the stethoscope from his ears, said, "It seems to be just a normal case of having a common cold. I will prescribe some medicine for the same. You need to take them on time. And additionally, avoid cold food or water."

"What about the full body check up?" Amy pointed out. "There is a high chance that it can be a lung infection. If that happens, will you take responsibility?"

The director was calm and collected as he replied, "Ma’am, there is no need for a thorough check up. But, just to be sure, I will ask the nurse to take the patient’s blood sample for testing."

Amy wanted to say something, but before she could, Myra had interrupted their conversation. She gazed at the director and said, while reading his name from the ID card, "Dr. Patrick, thank you and sorry for troubling you."

"No need, young lady. There is no trouble at all. Your mom is just worried about your well being. I understand that. Parents are just like that," Dr. Patrick uttered with a kind smile.

Myra was quick to correct him, though she initially fumbled with her words, "Uhh~ ... doctor, she is ~ ... Mrs. Garcia isn’t my mother."

A flicker of surprise flashed across Patrick’s face, but he quickly concealed it and said, "Ohh~ ... my apologies, then." He turned around and said, "Everyone, you may disperse," and then he added, "Teresa~ ...."

On his call, the other doctors departed from the room, and a lady, wearing a nurse’s uniform, walked towards him, "Yes, Dr. Patrick?"

"Take Ms. Myra’s blood samples and send them to the lab," the director instructed.

Inside the Hospital Director’s office

"Mrs. Garcia, I have instructed the nurse already. Everything has been arranged as per your orders. Rest assured," Dr. Patrick uttered.

Amy traced at edge of her teacup, as she glanced at the doctor, "Don’t tell this to my husband. After getting the confirmation, I want to surprise him myself. Seb would be too heartbroken if she didn’t turn out to be the one."

"Of course, Mrs. Garcia. I will keep that in mind and inform my staff as well," Dr. Patrick reassured her.

"Good. When we were coming, I noticed a new department building is being constructed. How is the work going? Does the hospital need any help with that? Seb and I would be glad to help in any possible way," Amy said, a genuinely radiant smile gracing her lips. She then added, "When can I get the report?"

"As for confidentiality reasons, the test will be conducted privately. It will take around five days to get the result," the director said.

"Make it three days. I have a flight scheduled after that," Amy told him. "You see, I want to tell my husband as soon as possible."

After a long pause, Dr. Patrick said, "I will try to do my best."

After getting the answer that she wanted to hear, Amy got up from the seat, "Then, I will be taking my leave. Thank you in advance, Dr. Patrick." After heading out, she said to Harris, the smile vanishing, "Keep an eye on him as well."

"Yes, ma’am. I will," Harris answered as they left for Myra’s room.
