(Author’s POV)
"Did you have a good talk with Prof. Stephens last night? How’s he doing? He called me in such a hurry that I wasn’t even able to ask him about his health," Wendy muttered on their way to the campus.
Myra nodded, "Ummhmm. I did. He said~ .... he was doing fine."
"Last night? Fabian? He called Wendy? What’s with this alien talk?" Yelena probed.
"Ohh~ .... you don’t know, as you were already fast asleep, sis Yel. Actually, ~ .... last night~ Prof. Stephens called me ...." Wendy summarised the whole thing to Yelena.
"Ahhh~ ...." Yelena hummed and followed it with a sigh, "Where did he say he was staying? she further asked.
"Ummm~ ... at the Larson mansion," Myra said, her voice low.
Wendy, whose attention was on her phone, didn’t hear it. She recalled something and asked, "Didn’t you say at the breakfast table that Mrs. Garcia invited you to have dinner with her and her husband, Mr. Garcia? Did you decide on what you are going to be wearing, sis?"
"My normal clothes are fine. It’s not like I am going to a banquet," Myra remarked.
"Ohhhooo~ .... sis. Don’t tell me you are going to wear a plain top and jeans. I like them on you, but~ .... it’s a formal dinner setting with the Garcias. Why don’t you try to dress up a bit?" Wendy suggested.
"No need to make a fuss over clothes, Wends. I will wear what I have. After all, it’s just a simple dinner," Myra wasn’t even thinking about the dinner. The entire night, she was either unable to get sleep or, when she did eventually get some, it was filled with scattered nightmares.
"I knew you would say that." Wendy smacked her hands. "That’s why~ .... I ordered something for you. It will most probably arrive by noon," she told Myra. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Wends~ .... you," Myra was on her way to give a lengthy lecture about wasting money or saving for herself, but Wendy cut her off. "Sis~ sis~ ... I have already paid for it. And it’s nonrefundable. Think of it as an early birthday gift from me, umm." Saying this, she stuck her tongue out playfully.
Myra shook her head but gave her younger sister a side hug, and a wholesome smile appeared on her face. Wendy, in return, kissed her cheek, just like she did in her childhood.
"You two, go get a room. Don’t make me see your lovey doviness, ughhh~ ..." Yelena commented exasperatedly.
Wendy jumped on her, catching her off guard, and planted a kiss on her cheek with a loud smack sound, "Not jealous anymore, my Yel? Should~ we two~ .... get a room then?"
