(Author’s POV)
"You are asking for a reality check. Let me help you set your mind straight, so that you can understand your actual place." Saying this, Hailey raised her hand, ready to strike Gavin.
With a semi circular motion, her hand came down, but before it could come in contact with Gavin, Myra caught her hand in an iron grip. She then jerked her backwards, muttering, her voice cold, almost ruthless, "Not on my watch."
Hailey stumbled but somehow managed to stabilize in time. Seething with pure hatred and rage, she fixed her gaze on Myra, a malevolent glint flashed across her eyes.
Myra heard a low growl, which was more like snarling. Her eyes automatically wrinkled as she noticed something unnatural with that crazy girl, Hailey. She was shell-shocked. But, in a matter of attoseconds, it was gone. Her mind spiralled, "What on earth was that? Did I just hallucinate, or did I see her teeth turning into fangs? But~ .... How? How’s that possible?’
She was so busy with her thoughts that she didn’t even notice Hailey charging towards her, "You dare to lay a hand on me. You filthy human."
Myra was caught off guard and couldn’t get out of the way or stop her as Hailey shoved her with full force. Her perfectly manicured, sharp nails ended up scraping at her neck. She was thrust back violently, but before she could hit the solid, concrete made ground, a strong pair of hands steadied her from behind.
"I thought this was a place for students from prestigious and well-mannered families. I didn’t know the university also enrolled thugs and ruffians. How off-putting, tskkkk~ ..." a clear yet cold tone reverberated. She heard that all too familiar voice from above her and couldn’t help but tilt her head and look back at the person. Her eyes dilated.
But before she could say anything, Nigel spoke first, "Mr.~ .... Mr. Everests. What are you~ ... what are you doing here?" His cruel, malicious demeanour took a complete detour as his voice sounded unrecognizably humble.
"Do I have to report my schedule to the likes of you, huhh?" Alaric spoke in his usual aloof, detached manner. Myra noticed his right hand was still on her shoulder while the left one was on the small of her waist. She pursed her lips and mumbled in a barely audible, "Thank you, Mr. Everests," and almost immediately distanced herself from his touch, a meter away from him.
Alaric looked at her with an unreadable expression, his gaze landed on the reddened area on the crook of her neck, his eyes darkening in the moment.
Myra saw the change, but before she could do something or stop him, he had started taking decisive steps in the direction of those hooligans. He stood right in front of Nigel and Hailey, emanating a cold aura.
