(???? POV)
"She is a bane. An existence that shouldn’t have been born from the start, you know that. Just kill her~ .... Just finish her off, quietly."
"What are you saying? She is just a harmless girl. A child at that. How can you be so cruel and heartless towards her? Saying such ruthless things in front of the kid."
"A harmless human? A child? I saw it. I saw it all. She is a monster. She is a plague. The cursed one. It was a tragedy that she was brought into this world. She is a destined mistake. I advise you, for the sake of peace and quietness of all beings, this girl should be gone. She needs to be gone for good."
"ENOUGH. I have heard enough of your nonsense. I will do no such thing. She is an ordinary human and will live as one, without any problem. I will make sure of it; no one finds out about her existence. I will keep her safe."
"Hahh? Can you do that? You can hide her now. But can you do it forever? Someday, she will step into the real world, and when she encounters those beings, those vultures, ready to pounce on her. When they know she is alive. It will only be a matter of time before a war breaks out. What will you do then? It will be the end of us, end of us all. Humans, non-humans, everyone."
"I brought her here so that you could take care of her for a while, until I find a safe place for her. Not to listen to your lectures. I will reward you handsomely. Name any price, just keep her safe and hidden."
"Sir, I cannot do that. I am just a lowly shaman. For this child, I will not ruin my and my family’s life and their future even if you give me billions. I have said what I needed to say. Take my advice and just be done with her. That’s for the best, for her as well as for you."
"I have already done a lot of damage. If you don’t want to get involved, fine. But don’t breathe a single word about this to anybody. Or else, neither you nor your husband nor your children will be able to see the sunrise the next day. Got it."
’Whose talking? Whose voices are those? Who are they talking about?’ I heard a clear conversation between a man and a woman, but couldn’t see anything. The vision was all blackened, veiled by something.
’A human girl? A child?’ I was all confused. Their words puzzled me.
I was muddled up in my thoughts when, all of a sudden, I felt a warm sensation on my icy cold hands. The touch was careful, soft yet firm. It was secure, comforting in its own way.
I tried to peer my eyes open, although the act of it was arduous enough. But I somehow managed to do that, and the first thing that came into my view was a blurry yet pristine, clean, white and brown ceiling, illuminated with dim lights.
My eyelids flickered continuously as I felt dizzy in the head.
