(Author’s POV)
"Did you two have a good talk?" After getting Nora’s message, aka ’mind link’, Dion was the first one to walk inside the room. Others followed in as well.
"Yup~ .... we did," Nora replied, way too casually as she eyed Myra.
Wendy couldn’t help but blink repeatedly. She first thought Dion was asking Myra, but when Nora answered instead, she just felt weird.
Soon all her doubts were replaced by another lightning bolt like shocker when Nora spoke, "Ohhh, well, good thing you all are here now. I need to do a formal introduction of you guys." She announced, "Aunt Sandra~ Uncle William~ Wendy~ .... these are my siblings. Brother Brave~ Brother Alaric~ Brother Dion~ .... and lastly~ .... my twinnie~ .... Elio." She introduced them in descending order, grinning from ear to ear.
"And brothers~ .... This is Myra’s mother, Mrs. Sandra Miracle. Her father, Mr. William Miracle and this~ ..." she firmly held Wendy’s shoulders, "~ .... is Wendy Miracle, her younger sister," she finished her words.
She was puzzled and caught by surprise to see the contrasting reactions from the two sides. The Everests brothers didn’t show much surprise. Their expression remained neutral. On the other hand, the Miracles, apart from Myra, everyone was completely flabbergasted. They were too stunned to speak.
William did some calculations in his head, then glanced at his eldest daughter for a brief moment, then at Nora and asked in confirmation, "So~ .... they all are your biological brothers?" He wanted to confirm something.
"Yes, Uncle William, they are~ ..." Nora answered, feeling a little odd by his question.
William looked at Myra once again, who was ready to disappear at any moment. She was avoiding all sorts of eye contact with her father, knowing he had probably figured everything out.
Dion read the room and introduced himself, "Sir, ma’am, pleasure to meet you. I am Dion Everests, Nora’s third oldest brother." He extended his hand, and William shook it. Dion instantly felt the unsettling feeling creeping inside William. Sandra only gave him a stiff smile. She was too stupefied to do anything else. The day was going forward in a very unexpected way.
Alaric, Brave and Elio quickly followed suit. This time, William didn’t hesitate to accept their handshakes, though he kept looking at Myra every now and then; tons of questions were swirling inside his brain, he wanted answers for.
In all this, Wendy, the ever so chatty one, didn’t speak. Nora’s words bowled her over so badly that her eyes kept darting between her and Elio. She might not have noticed before, as she hadn’t thought of such a possibility.
Now that Nora and Elio were in the same room, the similarity between them was not uncanny, but they had quite similar facial features. Brown hair with slightly different shades, a dimple on the right cheek, the same shape of the nose, and a similar skin tone.
Nora’s instincts were spiking up. She was meeting Elisa for the first time. Though Elisa seemed like a harmless human being, but Nora’s gut was telling her there was something off about her.
Maybe it was because of her sharp, catlike eyes that resembled her adoptive mother, or maybe it was just because she was a stranger. Nora didn’t know the reason. She quickly shrugged it off and gave Elisa a curt smile of her own.
William interrupted her chain of thoughts as he announced, "Umm~ .... It’s time for Myra to take a rest. Nora~ ... Mr. Everests~ .... Ms. Queens~ .... you must be tired. You all should return as well. Once my daughter is discharged from the hospital, I will invite everyone to my house for a proper dinner."
"Brothers, you all can go, I will stay here with Myra," Nora said, which William instantly declined, "No, Nora~ .... I think you should go as well. You can come again tomorrow. I need to have a chat with Myra about something." His voice was unshakable. He wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
Nora pursed her lips together and sighed, nodding in the end, though she was reluctant.
Dion gazed at Fabian, who had a smug smile plastered on his face. After all, William hadn’t mentioned his name. In his mind, it meant that William considered him close, more so than Nora.
