(Author’s POV)
"Happy birthday, sweetheart," Ashley kissed Amelia’s forehead as she woke her up. Still groggy and with a bloated face, Amelia opened her eyes and saw all her family members in her room. A smile broke on her lips as they all sang, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIAAAAAA~ ...." Lucas chimed in, "Congratulations, you are an adult now," and then popped a party popper filled with rose confetti.
"Thank you," Amelia said, her voice raspy.
Vlad rubbed his hands while asking, "So, dear. What do you want on this birthday? Should we throw a grand banquet for our little one, hmmm?"
"Sorry~ ... I~ ... I have plans with my friends~ ... to go to the amusement park," Amelia spoke guiltily.
"Ohh~ ..." Ashley uttered, a look of clear disappointment on her face.
"I will be back by six thirty. We will have a nice and cozy dinner at home. What’s say?" Amelia suggested, trying to salvage the situation. The mood uplifted a bit as they all kissed her forehead, wishing her once again and walked out.
Vienna was the last one to wish her. As they hugged, she mumbled, "I am sure this birthday will be an unforgettable one for you, my dear little Lia." She retracted herself, her smile deepened. Amelia beamed as well, replying, "It will be." Her thoughts and consciousness were filled with Denver.
She and Denver have already created plans for today. It was the D-day after all. She wanted to spend most of her time with him.
She glanced at the clock and literally jumped out of her bed. The excitement, the thrill was oozing from her body. Vienna looked at her sister’s lively self as something glinted in her eyes. She then got up and left the room.
Amelia got ready. It took her nearly an hour or two to select her perfect date outfit. Wearing a mid-length peach-hued dress, combining it with white boots, she was finally roaring to go.
"My dear, you look like an angel. Have fun," Ashley said. Amelia nodded and walked out.
Outside the gate, at some distance, Denver was waiting in his car. He was looking immaculate in a crisp black shirt and same colored pants. The top two buttons were undone, giving Amelia a sneak peek of what was to come later.
As she settled inside, a blush crept up her cheeks as he muttered in his usual magnetic voice, "Happy birthday, my love." Her heart raced as he kissed her cheek ever so delicately. "I can’t wait," he added.
He then pulled away, "But let’s save the best for the last, ummhmm." With that, the engine roared as the car zoomed away.
Instead of taking her to an amusement park as they had planned, he took her to an underwater aquarium date. He had booked the entire place. So, there were only Amelia and Denver and no one else to disturb them.
