Chapter 473: Creeping Anxiety~ .... Vanta Black Place

(Author’s POV)

’KIMBERG,’ Myra repeated the word in her head. Now this was too much of a coincidence. The matched birthdays with Nora and Elio~ ... story about her kidnapping when she was an infant~ .... the place of her birth. From the very start, from the time she couldn’t even remember, Nora and her have always been together. It had all started to click. A puzzle she wanted to solve had now started to take shape. She was more or less certain now that she and Nora were abducted together. After all, when Sara Everests was narrating her story, she did mention another girl child getting kidnapped along with Nora. ’So, the girl, it was me?’

Her mind was buzzing right now as a sharp pain hit her. Fabian was the first one to notice her wrinkled expression and asked, "Myra, what happened? Are you feeling any discomfort?" He then turned to the nurse and asked, his voice stern, "What shot did you give her? Why is she in so much pain?"

"Sir, it was just a regular shot," the nurse said, politely, but with a tinge of irritation.

Myra intervened quickly, "Fabian~ ... it’s just a headache. Don’t make a fuss."

Fabian wanted to say more, but refrained. He had been on the edge and doubted everything. He knew Myra was getting targeted. It could be someone who wanted to harm those wolves, or someone who has a vendetta against him or someone in connection with that son of a bitch, Nigel.

The nurse left with clear instructions, "The visiting hours are over. Apart from the guardian who is going to stay the night, others~ ... please leave as quickly as possible. It is time for the patient to sleep; else her recovery will be hindered."

When the nurse walked out, William also said in agreement, "The nurse is right, honey~ Wendy~ .... Fabian~ .... you all should return now."

"I am not going anywhere tonight." Sandra said, "I will be staying the night. Will~ .... you and Wendy should go back." She was firm, not going to take a no for an answer. She had been having this nagging feeling that something was going to drift apart. Her mind was clogged with negative thoughts. She wanted to ease it by spending some time with her eldest.

William didn’t argue. He only sighed and nodded. Plus, he had not been home in nearly thirty-six hours and needed proper rest. He was running on one or a maximum of two hours of nap, which wasn’t good for his own health.

Fabian wanted to stay, and so did Wendy, but she knew better that she couldn’t. She has an important class the next day, at eight, which she can’t skip. So, she had to relent. As for the former, he hadn’t properly spent any time with Myra today, so he was unwilling. He also wanted to ask about her abduction incident as well. But when he looked at Myra, she looked tired, so he too gave in.

After saying their goodbyes, they all went away, leaving only Sandra and Myra in the room.

Sandra, ever so delicately, massaged Myra’s temples. She was careful with all the wounds covered with bandages, her fingers soft. Soon, Myra’s headache eased, the creases on her forehead smoothed little by little as she gave a weak smile to her mother.

Sandra, after a while, uttered, her voice hesitant at first, "Umm~ ... wha~t, what did you talk wit~h~ ... Mrs. Garcia?" Her eyes flickered as she tried to put on a smile.

What was that? Was that a scream, a howl? I heard a sound, it was deafening, ear-splitting. When I opened my eyes to look around, my surroundings were doused in utter darkness.

My heart was ready to sink; an uneasy feeling crept inside me. ’Where am I? Is this~ ... is this another nightmare?’ I walked, tried to escape the place, though I couldn’t see a single thing. It was pitch black.

The shrieking sound intensified, making my body shudder, "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!" followed by the sound of violent, thumping knocking, which reverberated.

I screamed, "WHO IS IT?" WHO ARE YOU? SHOW YOURSELF," But no reply came. It only hiked my anxiety to another level. I didn’t know where I was. Who this screaming belongs to? Or why am I even here? I can’t even tell whether it is a dream or a trapping reality.

With another heart-wrenching wailing, I clutched my head with both hands. The pain amplified. It was as if it was tearing my head. The more I heard the sound, the more it was hitting on my nerves. It was making me feel that the painful scream was coming from within. I couldn’t bear to listen any longer, but I had to. There was no way out.

I could feel my body turning limp, weak. It was as if several deadly ants were crawling on me. I couldn’t help but cry out a painful growl~ .... "Aaaaaaahhhhhhh~ ...." And the next second, dizziness took over me. My body swayed as I collapsed~ ... landing on god knows what and where.
