Chapter 481: Homecoming

(Author’s POV)

"William, how much more time will it take?" Sandra asked, her phone sandwiched between her ear and shoulder as she was busy whisking the cream.

"Honey, we have just left the hospital, barely ten minutes ago. It will take some time," William answered patiently, his eyes on the road.

"You didn’t tell Myra about it, did you?" Sandra queried, her tone hushed.

Willian glanced sideways towards the passenger seat and said, fumbling a bit, "Hmm, I did not."

"Everything is almost prepared, and we are just waiting for you two. Drive safe, hmm," Sandra mumbled. "And, one more thing, don’t forget to call me five minutes before reaching the house, okay? OKAYYY~~~??"

"Ummhmm, I will, honey. Bye," William disconnected the call. He once again looked at Myra, who was occupying the passenger seat, looking out of the window. She seemed to be enjoying the scenery, or rather, lost in deep thought.

It took Myra just four days to recover and get permission to be discharged from the hospital. The doctors were dumbstruck. It was nothing short of a miracle. Yes, the injury on her head was still covered in fresh, clean bandages, but apart from that, every wound was healed. There wasn’t even any scarring left on her body. But it cannot be said about the scars that were imprinted in her subconscious by that brutal incident. It will definitely stay with her for a long, long time.

"Myra, what are you thinking? Are you comfortable anywhere? Are you nauseous? Should I drive slowly? Should we go back to the hospital?" William fired a flurry of questions. His tone filled with concern.

"I am doing fine, Dad. You can drive at your own pace," Myra spoke, her voice soft and gentle. For the past few days, she had been quiet, too quiet. Although most of her time, with no visitors allowed by William and Sandra, she spent the hours sleeping. But when she was awake, she wasn’t as talkative as before. She only spoke when she was asked something. Barely more than five to seven words at a time.

To see her like this, her parents got worried. They wanted her to get into therapy sessions, but Sandra suggested that they should first talk to Myra directly. And when they did, she just said, "I just feel tired all the time. I don’t need therapy; I just want to go home as soon as possible."

They thought the tiredness was because of her groggy state and her lying in the hospital all day. So, they dropped the idea of therapy for now.

But honestly, those dream sequences have been playing in Myra’s head, in her wake or in sleep. It has been pestering her, consuming most of her energy. So, she felt lethargic and sluggish all the time.

"Is there something on your mind, my child?" Willian questioned once again. "You can tell me freely. It will remain between us." He assured.

"Nothing, I just~ ... I just miss home," she mumbled. "Anyways, what was Mom saying?" she asked.

"Your mom, she~ .... she has been calling me nonstop since morning. Asking when we will arrive. My call log is flooded with her name," William said playfully.

"That sounds romantic, hehe. But, didn’t you tell her I was getting discharged in the afternoon?" Myra inquired.

"I did, but~ ... she wanted to know because of the preparat~ .... *cough, cough* I mean, your mother is just too excited for your return," William was just about to spout about the surprise, but he covered it up smoothly.

*Inside the Miracles’ house*

"Sis Yel~ ... sis Nor? Is anyone there?" Wendy’s voice echoed as she shouted from inside her room.

"What is it, Wends?" Both Yelena and Nora asked in unison.

"Can either of you help me with this balloon arch?" Wendy asked. "It keeps wobbling. This is very tricky to hold on to."
