(Author’s POV)
"Am I hallucinating? Are my ears playing some kind of trick here? Or did that arrogant punk Nigel Long post a public apology towards Myra on the university forum?" Yelena exclaimed again, clearly in shock, her eyes ready to pop out of their socket, her mouth agape.
"You are definitely not, sis Yel. He did apologize just now. And not just that, he even confessed to all the things he had done to sis since day one. Even talking about the kidnapping part~ ... voluntarily. That’s just~ ...." Wendy gasped, opening and closing her mouth like a fish out of water, "Did the sun rise from the west today? Or did someone threaten him at gunpoint? Why is he suddenly confessing?"
Sandra and William were visibly shaken as well. Sandra’s eyes moistened a little. Her mind replaying all the unjust things her daughter has suffered up till now. It ached her heart to know how much Myra had been enduring. She never uttered a single word to them, never complained about anything. Always played it casual, remained silent. But as a mother, she knew, deep inside, how hurt Myra must have been.
No sane person would like to have ugly rumors running about them.
Nora, with her hands folded, glared at the screen with suspicion. Actually, Dion had been investigating Myra’s kidnapping case. He had told all of his siblings about his findings. So, she knew about this Nigel Long guy. The moment they got to know what he had done to Myra, Alaric was ready to rush out and teach him and his parents a brutal lesson. Dion and Elio were on the same page, too. They wanted to show that they had messed with the wrong people. That they had Myra’s back. But at that time, Nora had stopped them.
She knew Myra’s nature well. Myra, who prefers to handle these sorts of things independently, would not like it if they meddle and beat Nigel and company without consulting her. After all the effort, she had started to open up to them once again, and Nora didn’t want to create a rift because of some dickhead. So, she had said, "Let Myra decide what should be done with those scumbags. I want to beat the crap out of that shitty asshole and his moron parents as much as you all do, brothers. But, as much as I know Myra, she won’t like that."
Brave had backed her up on her stance, "Nor is right. Let Myra get discharged first, then we can talk to her about what she wants to do with the Longs."
But now, with such a turn of events, Nora couldn’t help but say, her words heavy with annoyance, "Ra-ra, don’t listen to that trash’s empty words. What he and his parents did to you is beyond horrific. No matter what he says now, the damage has been done. You almost~ ... you almost lost your life. He needs to be taught a lesson, the hard way."
"Yes, sis. I agree. I don’t know the reason, but given how he has always treated you, it has to be another one of his schemes. If he were so sorry, he would have come to the hospital to visit you in person and apologised to you face to face. These are no more than crocodile tears. Sis, don’t soften your stance. That Nigel Long doesn’t deserve a shred of pity," Wendy backed Nora’s words, vexation simmering up inside her slowly.
All eyes settled on Myra, who held an unreadable expression. After a long pause, she finally spoke, her voice low, she sounded exhausted, "I~ .... feel a little tired." She then nodded in Garry’s direction, then at Oliver and without another word, turned around and went up to her room.
Garry and Oliver both exchanged looks. Then Garry said, "We will be taking our leave as well. Yelena, walk us out."
