Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 222

The next day, Aurora woke up early, eagerly awaiting Heath to take her to meet Ms. Luce.

Driving her to a villa, Heath said, This is the place.

Aurora smiled, I’ll go myself. You wait here.

Heath sighed, Rory, this isn’t going to be easy.

Her smile beaming, she replied, I know. If it were easy, someone would have succeeded already. It’s the challenge that makes it exciting!

Heath tenderly touched her hair, encouraging, Go on, good luck.

Aurora got out of the car, rang the doorbell, and soon a butler opened the door, asking, Who are you looking for?

I’m here to see Ms. Luce. Is she home?Aurora inquired.

The butler nodded, spoke inside, then came back and ushered her in.

Aurora turned to Heath, gesturing a triumphant Yes!before following the butler into the villa.

Inside, the villa was spacious and decorated in a classic European style. Aurora followed the butler through winding corridors to an outdoor garden.

In the heart of summer, the garden bloomed with beautiful roses. A woman with long hair and a blue dress was watering the plants. The sunlight cast a serene and gentle glow on her.

The butler approached her, and upon turning, she was startled, dropping her watering can with a clang.

Aurora picked it up, handing it to the butler, and asked, Are you alright?

The woman, composing herself with a smile, said, Yes, I’m fine. May I ask what brings you here?

Ms. Luce, though in her forties, had maintained a youthful grace. Her skin was smooth and fair, her hair like a waterfall, her demeanor elegant. If not for the faint lines around her eyes, Aurora would have believed she was only in her twenties.

Ms. Luce, I’m Aurora Pendleton. I’m here to discuss the rights for Dual Facades,Aurora said nervously, fearing immediate rejection.

Ms. Luce smiled, Oh? Are you in the film industry, Miss Pendleton?

Yes, I’ve read your father’s book and believe it would make a successful film. I’ve come to Philadelphia specifically to see you.

Ms. Luce invited her to sit in the garden chairs, offering coffee and snacks. Aurora sipped the coffee, the rich aroma of roses enveloping

her.

Why do you think that by giving you the rights, you can make this movie a success?Ms. Luce asked,

Setting down her cup, Aurora confidently replied, Because I have access to the best crew, directors, and actors.

Chapter 222

Ms. Luce seemed pleased, You’re quite confident. Once you have your cast, we’ll talk more.

As Aurora was about to mention her casting choices, Ms. Luce stood up, I’m tired. You should go now.

)

Before Aurora could respond, the butler came to assist Ms. Luce inside, leaving Aurora awkwardly alone in the garden. She stood up to leave, taking a couple of snacks with her.

Back in the car, Heath inquired, How did it go?

Aurora shook her head, then nodded, her brows knitted in a complex expression. I’m not sure. Ms. Luce didn’t seem as opposed to transferring the rights as the rumors suggested. She was natural and gentle in conversation, but I can’t shake off the feeling she’s stringing me along.

Frowning, Aurora reminisced about Mrs. Luce’s demeanor, Let’s give it another try tomorrow.

Heath glanced at Aurora, suggesting, I can find other scripts for you.

Aurora shook her head, You chose this one for me because you think it’s the best, right? I’ll try again. As long as she hasn’t outright refused, I still have a chance.

Heath nodded, Alright, let’s go grab some dinner.

Yeah!Aurora smiled, playfully stuffing a pastry into Heath’s mouth, I grabbed this on the way out, have a taste.

Heath smiled wryly, eating the pastry.

Heath drove her to a restaurant. They devoured two steaks and some desserts, leaving Aurora so full that she insisted on a walk.

Strolling through Philadelphia, Aurora remembered her initial displeasure when her grandfather sent her sister, Sophia, here.

The pair walked along the sidewalk, flanked by lush ginkgo trees, observing the relaxed passersby.

Heath, holding Aurora’s hand, leisurely walked until they had digested their meal before heading back.

Midway, a man with shoulderlength hair rushed towards them, startling Aurora. Heath protected her, as the man extended a hand holding a sketch. Interested in buying this? Fifty bucks.

Aurora peeked at the sketch: a vivid portrayal of the ginkgolined street, a tall man in a suit with an arm around a girl. The girl, tall and enchanting, wore a relaxed, joyful smile. Their eyes locked in conversation, as if seeing only each other.

Aurora was taken aback. Was this how she looked at Heath? So reliant, so sweet?

Heath handed over fifty dollars, accepting the sketch with a smile, Hey, you seem to look at me quite fondly.

Aurora blushed, Nonsense! Don’t get the wrong idea!

I’m just stating the obvious from this realistic sketch, Heath chuckled, looking at Aurora.

Aurora tried to snatch it, playfully protesting, That’s absurd! It’s not realistic!

Heath held the sketch high, teasingly running ahead as Aurora chased him. Despite her efforts, his height and long strides kept the sketch out of reach.

Finally relenting, Heath handed her the sketch. Exhausted, Aurora caught her breath as Heath lifted her in his arms, heading to the parking lot.

Put me down,Aurora protested, kicking lightly.

Heath tightened his hold, Stop fussing, we’re almost there.

Aurora’s face flushed, People are watching, put me down!

Heath responded matteroffactly, Let them watch. There’s nothing wrong with carrying my woman.

Aurora, bashful, nestled into Heath’s embrace as he carried her to the parking lot and drove her back to the hotel.

After freshening up, Aurora admired the sketch in her room, planning to frame it and hang it in Heath’s study at home.

Heath entered to find Aurora blissfully gazing at the sketch on the bed, her smile sweet and adorable.

Though the sketch was amateurish, just street artist quality, Heath had bought it because it captured a moment between him and Aurora her gaze filled with dependence and tender affection.

For Heath, this alone made the purchase worthwhile.
