"The Wynn family lied to me. Hailey lied to me. But you bear some of the responsibility too."
His little speech.
Somehow managed to package his cheating and abandonment of her as if he were the real victim.
"Ugh!"
Lydia visibly gagged, her face contorting in utter disgust. "You look like a decent guy in that suit, but you are absolutely shameless!"
Every single one of them felt their worldview shattering from this scumbag's mind-blowing logic.
"I'm talking to Serena. This has nothing to do with you," Adrian snapped, shooting them a look dripping with icy warning.
Turning back, he locked his intense gaze onto Serena. "Serena, you shouldn't have hidden this from me. If I had known about these talents of yours... if I had only known, I never would have..."
"Don't you dare say that if you knew about my skills, you wouldn't have cared about my rural background, and you would've happily stayed with me, gotten engaged, and married me."
Serena cut him off, her eyes filled with blistering ridicule. "If you actually say those words out loud, it will only make me sick."
"Adrian, your love is truly cheap and incredibly shallow."
"Watching you crawl back to me right now like a Stray Dog, I'm honestly thrilled you looked down on my background back then."
"Otherwise, I'd feel contaminated."
Those razor-sharp words caught Adrian dead in his tracks.
He stared at Serena's fiercely beautiful face, which was now radiating pure, unadulterated coldness.
He stared at the blatant, undisguised disgust in her eyes.
A sudden wave of panic fluttered in his chest.
It was an entirely unfamiliar sensation.
In the past...
When Serena looked at him, her eyes had never been this cold.
When she first returned to the Wynn family, he was the person she relied on the most.
Serena was definitely using this method to punish him on purpose, trying to make him feel guilty and miserable.
She was just playing hard to get.
Acting out of jealousy and throwing a tantrum over the whole Hailey situation.
As long as he offered enough bait and clearly outlined what was at stake.
Serena would figure out exactly which path she needed to choose.
"Serena, that's enough."
Adrian took a deep breath, his tone laced with growing impatience. "I know you're holding a grudge. After all, I did toss you aside for Hailey."
"You're working so hard in this circle just to get my attention, and congratulations, it worked."
"I'll tolerate your little tantrums, but my patience is limited. You only get this one chance."
He paused, glancing around to ensure no one else was within earshot, before dropping his voice to a low murmur. "Serena, you did win the competition today, but... by publicly humiliating the Doyle heiress, you have completely offended the Doyle family."
