With the final keystroke, the system unlocked.
The data stored on the hard drive expanded across the massive screens before them.
The monitors were completely flooded with detailed experimental data and projection models concerning cellular restructuring, genetic modification, and gene collapse suppression.
This was the culmination of Grandma Aria and her team's entire life's work.
And that glass vial of ethereal blue liquid she had found earlier was the closest they had ever gotten to a successful gene suppressant.
"Grandma left all of this... for us," Serena murmured, staring at the cascading data as a lump formed in her throat.
They scrolled through the endless files together.
Suddenly, the screen flickered and shifted.
From the depths of that colossal database, an encrypted map file extracted itself and rendered on the display.
Serena took one look, her eyes widening. "This is..."
Nicholas finished her thought. "A global distribution map of Obsidian Sun's core bases."
Serena stared at the map, her gaze shaking with shock. "Grandma actually managed to track down all their strongholds!"
Her eyes swept rapidly over the coordinates. "This map has to be from over thirty years ago. After all this time, Obsidian Sun has definitely updated, relocated, or abandoned most of their perimeter outposts."
"But..."
Her fingers flew across the keys, zooming in on one specific region.
"But for a syndicate like Obsidian Sun, their absolute core headquarters and primary research labs aren't things they can easily pack up and move."
Nicholas settled into the chair beside her, his long fingers rapidly navigating a secondary console.
He began cross-referencing the thirty-year-old map with real-time global network traffic.
In seconds.
A glaring red dot began pulsing on the map.
"Talk about a coincidence." Nicholas glanced sideways at Serena. "The global elite tournament's individual finals kick off next week, and the venue happens to be right inside this exact Severian tech center."
Serena stared at the coordinates, a dangerously seductive smirk curving her lips.
"These sewer rats really know how to play the game."
They knew how to hide in plain sight.
They had boldly buried a highly illegal, unethical laboratory right under the noses of an academic sanctuary.
"They really put in the effort."
Serena leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers lightly against the desk.
"Perfect."
"I'm heading to Severia for the individual tournament anyway."
Her eyes gleamed with a lethal, predatory chill. "It'll be the perfect cover to walk right through their front door and burn their core base to the ground."
