Meanwhile, on the other side of the room.
Julian, Jerrick, Serena, and that incredibly annoying stray dog of a man were seated around the dining table.
The table was laden with an exquisite breakfast prepared by top-tier chefs.
The atmosphere was warm and decidedly relaxing.
Except for the corner.
Jasper's stomach growled loudly. He felt like he was shattering into pieces, his deeply resentful gaze fixed longingly on the dining table.
Why was he the only one injured?
The only one beaten?
And to top it off, they wouldn't even let him eat.
It was too cruel.
Watching the others eat at a leisurely pace in perfect harmony while he crouched in the corner with a growling stomach made him feel utterly pathetic.
So hungry.
He had skipped dinner the night before to stake out the hotel.
Now, after getting beat up, he was starving.
Once Serena finished her meal, she took a napkin and elegantly dabbed her lips.
She stood up, picked up a steaming bowl of seafood soup, and walked straight toward Jasper in the corner.
Jasper's ears perked up, and he raised his head.
Seeing Serena walking toward him with food, his captivating eyes instantly lit up. He looked profoundly moved, his voice thick with emotion. "Sniff... Serena is the best!"
He sniffled, on the verge of tears. "Only my sister knows how to take care of me. I'm starving to death!"
With that, he eagerly reached out with both hands to take the bowl.
Just as his fingertips brushed the porcelain edge.
Serena subtly shifted her wrist, pulling the soup out of reach.
She stood in front of him, her cool gaze sweeping over his bruised and battered face.
A slight smirk tugged at her red lips, a smile that was breathtaking but laced with a dangerous cunning.
