The assistant looked at Serena with absolute terror.
He finally realized... standing in front of this girl, even death was a luxury he might not be granted.
He would only face a fate worse than death!
He blinked frantically.
Serena threw a sidelong glance at the task force.
The operatives immediately moved in, locking specialized restraints around the assistant.
Only then did Serena reach out and snap his jaw back into place.
"Talk."
A single, quiet command.
Gasping for air, the assistant stammered, "I-I was only following orders..."
Jasper scoffed. "Skip the useless excuses."
The assistant's lips trembled. His eyes darted uncontrollably toward Alaric, who was still pinned near the doors.
Alaric's face contorted in rage. "Shut up!"
He thrashed and roared.
Only to be shoved down harder by the task force.
Serena lifted her gaze to him. "You don't have the right to silence anyone anymore, Chairman Sinclair."
Alaric ground his teeth together.
An operative grabbed him and slammed him face-first into the wall, smashing his features flat against the paneling.
Even if he tried to speak, all that came out were muffled grunts.
Trembling violently, the assistant finally confessed. "It-It was Chairman Sinclair. He ordered me to smuggle the chip into the Severian isolation ward."
"The chip contained Dr. Geoffrey Grant's medication logs."
"They needed to confirm if there was any chance Dr. Grant would wake up."
"If he woke up, he would expose the clues Aria Wynn left behind."
"So... so they had to silence him."
Hearing this, the Lancasters' expressions turned dangerously dark.
Aria Wynn.
Serena's grandmother.
