Yet, the mere sound of her voice instantly anchored the chaotic room.
Jasper blinked in confusion. "If we don't chase the hub, what are we supposed to hunt?"
Serena's eyes narrowed slightly, her voice a cool breeze. "Chasing the hub is useless. If Obsidian Sun initiated a purge this severe, the hub they exposed is guaranteed to be a decoy."
"If you hunt the hub, you'll waste time and fall straight into their trap."
Jasper's pupils contracted. Suddenly, a spark of pure realization ignited in his eyes. He pointed at the cascading red alerts on the screen.
"I get it! We hunt the purge command itself!"
"The hub leads to a dead end, but the command leads directly to the triggerman!"
He slammed his hand on the desk, looking at Serena with overwhelming awe. "How does your brain work so fast?! That's brilliant!"
"I almost let those bastards lead me right off a cliff!"
"The hub is just a sponge to absorb our attacks. The purge command is live—if we bite down on that signal, we can trace it straight to their actual terminal!"
The technicians from The Federal Oversight Task Force immediately gasped in realization. "Miss Serena is absolutely right! We were so fixated on the physical chip and the firewall that we completely ignored the broadcast signal!"
"The purge is synchronized. There has to be an origin point transmitting the kill switch!"
Jasper was practically vibrating with excitement, his hands returning to the keyboard. "You're incredible, Serena!"
Serena shot him a dry look. "Get to work."
"And three minutes is too slow."
Jasper: "..."
He felt a metaphorical arrow pierce his chest. He was being judged.
Three minutes was lightning fast!
He was The Abyss's Top-Ranked Hunter!
Nicholas let out a low chuckle and smoothly slid his own laptop in front of Serena. "Why don't you show them how it's done?"
Serena glanced at him but didn't say a word.
Instead, she slipped into the chair beside him and took over the laptop.
