Dr. Grant looked at her, his eyes filled with worry. "Serena, that's exactly why it's so dangerous."
"There are no true identities on that ship, nor are there real rules. The so-called rules are written by the strong to oppress the weak."
"If you're powerful enough, you become the law. But if you can't hold your ground..."
He didn't finish the sentence.
He didn't need to. Everyone in the room understood.
Those who couldn't hold their ground would be swallowed whole by the ship.
Serena looked at him and asked, "What about the vault?"
Dr. Grant's head snapped up. "You already know about the vault?"
His expression changed drastically at the mention of it.
But then, he let out a bitter smile. "I suppose that makes sense. If you managed to dig up information on Whitecliffe Harbor, you'd naturally uncover the vault."
"It's true. There is a specific area on Project Zero-Transit called The Sanctum Vault. Ordinary buyers can't access it, and neither can the ship's standard security."
"Only The Raven's inner circle has clearance."
Jerrick's voice was cold. "What's inside?"
Dr. Grant shook his head. "During the years I was locked in the underground base, they sometimes dragged me near the clearance room to verify data."
"They assumed my mind was too clouded from the constant drug injections to understand what they were saying."
"But I remember it all perfectly. About a month before you rescued me, Serena, I overheard Special Envoy Mordecai arguing with The Raven. They mentioned The Sanctum Vault on Project Zero-Transit."
"Because nobody else on the ship was allowed near it, Special Envoy Mordecai was furious."
"He claimed the shipment was supposed to be under his jurisdiction, but The Raven bypassed him entirely and took absolute control over The Sanctum Vault."
"I could tell Special Envoy Mordecai was deeply threatened by The Raven."
"He fears The Overlord, but towards The Raven, it's a mix of terror and bitter resentment."
Serena narrowed her eyes. "Does that vault have something to do with the Obsidian Augments?"
