Serena ignored him.
She rapidly cycled through several data interfaces, her eyes locked onto a subtle, abnormal wave hidden within the command frequency.
It was incredibly faint.
If she hadn't been monitoring Specimen Seven's neural chip data so closely, she never would have caught it in time.
Someone had tampered with Specimen Seven.
And it had happened right after it entered The Observation Theater.
Her smile deepened.
Well then, things on this ship were certainly getting lively.
It seemed multiple factions had taken a keen interest in this asset, all eager to carve out a piece for themselves.
Seeing her ignore him, Director Kaelen's voice cracked with panic. "Your Excellency, is there a problem with Specimen Seven or not?"
"It's fine for now," Serena replied coolly.
The director was just about to exhale when she casually added, "But in three minutes, all bets are off."
The breath caught in Kaelen's throat, nearly choking him. "Three minutes?!"
He practically roared.
His chest heaved as a spike of pure adrenaline hit his system. "Then fix it, now!"
Serena smiled. "I can fix it. For an additional fee."
The director's face twisted into an ugly grimace.
He glared at her, his chest rising and falling erratically, utterly suffocated by her brazen demand.
"Your Excellency, don't forget that you are a medical consultant on our payroll!" he gritted out, his tone tight with anger. "Ensuring Specimen Seven's stability is your job!"
Standing before the monitoring console, Serena didn't even blink. Her pale, striking features remained entirely detached, save for the faint smirk on her lips. "My job?"
She let out a mocking, icy laugh. "My job is to ensure the stability of the assets within the scope of normal supervision."
