Messing With Her? Are You Crazy! novel Chapter 1766

Right at that moment, two sharp knocks echoed from the door. Before The Raven could even respond, the lock clicked open. A Project Zero-Transit security guard walked in, holding a tray. "My Lord Raven." The guard's attitude was entirely respectful, even offering a slight bow. The Raven frowned, displeased by the intrusion before he had granted permission. Ignoring the hostile glare, the guard stepped forward and presented the item on the tray. The Raven’s gaze turned icy the second he saw it. "What is the meaning of this?" he demanded, his voice chilling enough to send shivers down anyone's spine. Resting on the tray was a brand-new auction terminal. It was a bidding device for the current event. The guard spoke as if he hadn't noticed the drop in temperature. "The Commodore asked me to relay a message. Although Obsidian Sun's operational privileges aboard Project Zero-Transit have been frozen, you are still a guest on this voyage. The crew will not strip you of your right to participate in the auction." The Raven stared at him, his gaze predatory and dark. The guard continued, "The Commodore stated that since you insisted AWS-14 has no connection to Obsidian Sun, we have no choice but to process the asset as unclaimed, contraband cargo based on our investigation. We will determine its new ownership. Having passed the final risk assessment, AWS-14 will now enter the public auction." He smiled—a polite, flawless expression. "If you happen to be interested in this living asset, you are welcome to bid alongside the other buyers." He pushed the terminal slightly closer to The Raven. "The device is already connected to the main floor. Every VIP is treated equally. This is The Commodore's direct order." The words "bid alongside" and "treated equally" felt like a physical slap across The Raven’s face. He glared at the man, a suffocating wave of rage bleeding into his eyes. After delivering the message, the guard bowed respectfully once more. "The item has been delivered. I will leave you to your evening." Without waiting for a response, he turned and left. The door clicked shut, followed by the heavy thud of the lock engaging. From start to finish, the guard had been flawlessly polite. He hadn't uttered a single insult. Yet, every time he said "My Lord Raven," it dripped with agonizing sarcasm. It sparked an inexplicable, fiery rage in The Raven’s chest. He stood frozen in place, staring daggers at the terminal on the table. A moment later, a low scoff escaped his lips. The sound was terrifyingly cold. Perfect. Treated equally. The Commodore fully knew AWS-14 belonged to Obsidian Sun. He knew exactly what the internal investigation had uncovered. He also knew Obsidian Sun would never willingly abandon the specimen. But earlier, The Raven had explicitly denied any connection to the asset to The Commodore's face. Now, The Commodore was playing along with that exact narrative. By sending this terminal, the ship’s master was shoving The Raven’s own words right back down his throat. Deny ownership? Fine. Then become a regular buyer and open your wallet like everyone else. Want your property back? Buy it. The Raven’s chest heaved violently as a vein throbbed against his temple. Crash! With a violent swing, The Raven grabbed the terminal and hurled it against the wall.
