Jasper was entirely unaffected by the pressure. He merely tilted his head, giving the director a cheerful look.
Even with the mask in the way, the sheer heat of his smug grin radiated outward.
Director Kaelen felt a massive headache pulsing at his temples.
The Grinning Wraith lived up to his chaotic reputation—he truly loved watching the world burn.
If he let the man keep talking, who knew what other devastating secrets he would spill?
Taking a deep, steadying breath, Director Kaelen turned back to face the remaining buyers. "Ladies and gentlemen, what the administration can confirm at this moment is that the detained individual possesses direct ties to Obsidian Sun."
"However, regarding the complete origin of Specimen Fourteen and whether Obsidian Sun is its true manufacturer, we lack the conclusive evidence to make a final determination at this time."
"The administration has formally taken over the investigation and will continue to enforce all necessary security protocols."
"As for unverified speculation, I ask for your discretion. Matters pertaining to internal investigations and client commissions cannot be publicly debated here."
His message was crystal clear.
They would handle it.
But any further discussion regarding Obsidian Sun, or their relationship with Project Zero-Transit, was dead in the water.
The administration was making it explicitly clear that they would not tolerate any more probing into their ties with the syndicate.
Jasper got the message. He had no real desire to wage an open war with the ship's administration anyway. He simply shrugged, his tone still dripping with the amusement of a man enjoying a spectacular show. "Fair enough."
He looked entirely accommodating. "Since the administration still needs to conduct their review, I'll keep my mouth shut. We'll wait for the official findings."
Then, almost as an afterthought, he mused aloud, "Though... after tonight, I imagine there's going to be a long line of people looking to 'do business' with Obsidian Sun."
Someone nearby scoffed coldly. "Do business? I'd say there will be a line of people demanding answers about Specimen Fourteen."
