When Patton heard the name “Phantom Healer,” he glanced at the insulated container in Isabella’s hand, then at Karen.
Since she was, after all, a young lady of the family’s second branch, Patton nodded. “Then I must ask you two to move to the side hall for now. We need to redecorate this area.”
Being allowed to stay meant a chance to turn things around, so Karen naturally had no objections.
A flash of joy appeared in Isabella’s heart, and she nodded obediently.
As long as she could remain at the Blackwood estate, there was a chance!

The Lancaster family estate.
As soon as Serena came downstairs, she heard waves of laughter from the living room.
She looked up.
Sure enough, she saw Nicholas sitting on the sofa, chatting with old Mr. Lancaster and Catherine.
His posture was relaxed yet elegant, and his words were tactful and perfectly measured. He managed to show respect for the elders and his high regard for Serena, without seeming overly sycophantic just because of her.
He had old Mr. Lancaster and Catherine grinning from ear to ear, so charmed they couldn’t contain their smiles.
They had almost completely forgotten about his ulterior motive: to steal their precious girl.
“Serena, you’re up?” Catherine stood up with a broad smile. “Come have breakfast. Nicholas has been waiting for you for a while.”
Serena glanced at the wall clock as she walked over. “We agreed on ten o’clock.”
It was only eight-thirty.
Nicholas lifted his head slightly, a warm smile spreading across his handsome, almost ethereal face. Even his almond-shaped eyes seemed to ripple with affection. “A day apart feels like an eternity. By my count… a whole season has passed since we parted last night.”
“Besides, it is my honor to spend more time speaking with old Mr. Lancaster and my aunt-to-be.”
He delivered the lines, one after another, without batting an eye.
