Serena shot back, “…I do.”
Looking at his infuriatingly charming smile, Serena was already getting used to the man’s constant showing off.
She went up to the second floor.
Her eyes swept over the empty rooms, and she finally walked toward a side bedroom.
This room faced the villa’s main gate, which would give her a better vantage point to monitor everything.
Just as Serena was about to push the door open, her wrist was gently grabbed from behind by Nicholas.
The grip wasn’t strong, but it was enough to make her stop.
She turned around.
The man’s fingertips were cool as he held her wrist and lifted it.
He frowned, his gaze falling on the back of her hand.
The startling wound on the girl’s fair, delicate hand was extremely obvious.
Nicholas’s frown deepened. “Why didn’t you treat this properly after you went home?”
Serena tried to pull her hand back. “It’s almost healed. It doesn’t need any more medicine.”
After Nicholas had treated it last time, she had completely forgotten about the wound. It hadn’t hurt much, and once the bleeding stopped, it seemed fine.
“What do you mean it doesn’t need it?” Nicholas said, holding her hand firmly. “What if it leaves a scar because you didn’t take care of it?”
As he spoke, he pulled Serena into the room diagonally across the hall. “From now on, I’m going to make sure you apply medicine until your hand is completely healed.”
His tone left no room for argument.
He took a first-aid kit out of his suitcase. “If it really does scar, and Old Mr. Lancaster and Mrs. Lancaster see it, do you think their hearts won’t break?”
Serena’s long, dark lashes fluttered as she watched the man walk toward her with the first-aid kit.
She felt a slight flutter in her chest.
