He would definitely take Serena's side!
But the two socialites were furious and in no mood to listen to Hailey.
However, Patton didn't even spare them a glance. He walked straight to Serena and placed the glass of lemonade he was carrying on the table beside her. "Miss, your lemonade."
Serena raised an eyebrow. This lemonade must have been specially prepared by Nicholas himself, perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, just to her taste. She had just finished one glass, and Nicholas had immediately sent Patton to bring her another. Was he watching her this whole time?
Patton continued, "Mr. Nicholas Blackwood said that if you find it stuffy in here, he has prepared some refreshments for you on the terrace."
Serena lifted her gaze toward the main stage, where the man was sitting with his chin propped on his hand, lazily looking over at her.
Seeing her look his way, Nicholas's cool, almost ethereally handsome face bloomed into a radiant smile. He even gave her a little wink, his lips curved in a look of indulgent affection.
His eyes seemed to say, *Are you done playing? If you're bored with this performance, why don't we sneak off to the terrace for a secret date?*
An almost imperceptible smile touched Serena's lips. "Thank you, Patton."
"It's my pleasure, Miss," Patton said with a respectful smile.
Hailey was also in a panic, shaking her head in shock. She couldn't believe that Patton would go so far as to tell such a blatant lie for Serena at an event like this. Wasn't he afraid of the heir finding out?
The desperate socialite then turned to Karen, her face pleading for help. Patton's attitude toward Serena terrified them. If this country girl really had some connection to Mr. Blackwood, then they were completely screwed for picking a fight with her.
But Karen pointedly avoided their gaze, acting as if the whole affair had nothing to do with her.
The two socialites' hearts plummeted. What did this mean? It was Karen who had incited them to cause trouble for Serena in the first place. Now that Patton had appeared, she was washing her hands of them? Could it be… that Patton was telling the truth?
