Then, she gave Serena a casual wave and followed the bodyguard.
The other bodyguards immediately dragged away the Norvane warriors lying on the ground.
Within two minutes.
The garage was quiet again.
Only Serena and Nicholas were left.
"Are you hurt?" the man asked, his charming eyes lowered. In the quiet, empty space, his low, deep voice resonated with a bewitching allure.
It tickled Serena's ears.
On the surface, it sounded like a simple question.
But for some reason, it filled the air with a subtle, ambiguous atmosphere.
"I'm fine," Serena said, looking away. She raised her hand a little unnaturally to brush back a strand of hair that had fallen by her cheek. "Just some small fry. They can't hurt me."
"Wait."
Nicholas spoke suddenly.
He caught her wrist with his long, elegant fingers.
His palm was radiating heat, the contact sending a jolt of electricity through her.
It instantly seared Serena.
Serena’s dark lashes fluttered as his touch seared her skin, and she tried to pull her hand back.
But the man suddenly leaned in, his thin lips carrying a warm, cedar-like breath that brushed against her ear.
"Your hair is messy. Let me fix it for you."
Serena's neck tingled, and she instinctively flinched.
Fixing her hair was one thing, but did he have to get so close?
This damn peacock...
He never missed a chance to exert his overwhelming masculine charm.
"Don't move."
The man's large hand moved from her wrist to her shoulder.
Then, it went behind her.
Serena could clearly feel the warm touch of his fingertips as they occasionally brushed against her scalp, sending waves of tingling numbness through her.
Again and again.
Serena felt that tingling sensation gradually spread throughout her entire body with each stroke of his fingers through her hair.
It was as if she were being zapped by an electric current.
Serena's breathing couldn't help but become a little uneven. "Are you done yet?"
His low, sultry laugh sent a thrill straight down her spine. "Is Serena nervous?"
"Who's nervous?" Serena's long lashes fluttered, her bright eyes widening.
Nicholas felt the girl's body tense up and then straighten, and even without seeing her face, he could guess her expression now.
He smiled tenderly. "If you're not nervous, why do I feel you sweating?"
"I just had an intense workout. I'm hot," Serena said, her expression unchanging, her voice calm.
The man said no more.
But his low, tender laughter kept drilling into Serena's ears, again and again, as if he could see right through her stubborn act...
