Serena shook her head, looking slightly exasperated.
She stifled a yawn and pointed to the box on the coffee table. "The item is right there. Take it and go."
Treating it like a holy relic, Mr. Harrison hugged the box containing the Astral Titanium to his chest.
Then, the group of men crowded around the box, observing it as if they were worshiping it.
"Ah! So this is the Astral Titanium!"
"You really are our savior!"
"If we didn't get this piece of Astral Titanium, our Neural Synapse Interface project would have been completely doomed!"
They chattered endlessly, showing absolutely no signs of leaving.
Every now and then, they cast furtive glances at her.
Could anyone imagine a group of half-century-old, white-haired academicians using a theatrical, broadcasting-style tone to articulate their dramatic praises?
Serena pinched the bridge of her nose. "Just spit it out. What else do you want?"
She knew they wouldn't have made this trip just to pick up the Astral Titanium.
No matter how urgently they needed it.
There was no reason to rush to the Lancaster estate in the middle of the night.
And if it was just a pickup, Mr. Harrison could have come alone.
Why would such a massive group tag along?
Mr. Harrison let out a sheepish laugh. "Nothing gets past you."
One of the academicians spoke up. "Well... the truth is, picking up the Astral Titanium was secondary. We actually came because of a situation. We have a research project at Marington College, and we've hit a bottleneck..."
Serena cut him off. "I'm not going."
"Please, don't say that!"
Their desperate pleas rang out with heart-wrenching sincerity.
Serena roughly understood the situation.
The Global Ivy Syndicate did constantly try to challenge Marington College's status.
After all, Marington College was the top academic institution in Elyndor.
So they organized a transnational academic challenge.
This wasn't a competition between students.
It was a showdown between the research professor teams of the respective universities.
The reason Mr. Harrison worked at Marington College, apart from cultivating future national talent at the top university, was because the terms they offered were simply too good.
The research studios and equipment provided for their team were all top-tier international standard.
