"Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. The Doyle family sponsored a beggar like you expecting nothing in return, and this is how you repay us!"
"We should have let you rot in the Backwoods!"
"Sponsored?"
Lydia suddenly laughed, a bleak, hollow sound. "If you didn't want to sponsor me, you shouldn't have. Because... the money your family supposedly gave me never even reached my hands."
She bit her lip, her chest heaving with intense emotion. "Besides, your family's money is dirty."
"You... you little bitch!" Bianca seethed. "You're just like Caleb Sommers! I shouldn't have pulled either of you out of the dirt! You should have rotted in the Backwoods like the trash you are! If you're so pure, why did you take the Doyle family's money in the first place?!"
"Bianca Doyle!"
Suddenly, Lydia drew on a reservoir of courage she didn't know she had. Her voice spiked, her eyes burning with pure rage as she glared at Bianca. "You know exactly why the Doyle family sponsors us!"
No one could have predicted that Lydia, the girl who usually mumbled like a frightened mouse.
Would actually scream something like this at Bianca.
Even Serena raised an eyebrow, taking a closer look at the small girl.
She also noticed it.
The moment Lydia said those words.
A distinct flash of panic crossed Bianca's eyes.
"W-what the hell are you talking about!"
Though Bianca tried desperately to hide her panic, the subtle crack in her voice betrayed her.
Lydia just kept staring at her.
Sometimes, once you finally broke the silence.
Everything else seemed a little less terrifying.
Especially with Serena standing right beside her.
The only light in her life was right there.
She felt invincible.
"But... ever since she left, I haven't been able to reach her!"
"She doesn't reply to my texts. Her phone is disconnected. It's like she vanished off the face of the earth."
"I want to know, where is my friend Faith?! Where did she go?!"
By the end, she was openly sobbing.
The classroom fell dead silent.
Everyone instinctively turned to stare at Bianca.
The sudden, chilling accusation had completely stunned them.
Faith Turner was a name that stuck out in a top-tier university like this.
And she was brilliant. She was incredibly hardworking and always at the top of the class.
Everyone remembered her.
And exactly two months ago, she had abruptly withdrawn from school, supposedly to go abroad.
