Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1008

Willow shot a quick glance at Josefina and wisely decided to keep quiet. The last time she tried to outsmart Josefina, it didn't end well, and she wasn't about to repeat that mistake.

Josefina held a detector, and the group began their search for clues. After a bit, Dr. Lee gave Willow the signal that their part was done. But Josefina was still crouched down, studying the ground with laser focus.

Unable to help herself, Willow blurted out, "What's so interesting about dirt? You're not seriously going to say the evidence is buried here, are you?"

Her look said it all: "You expect me to believe that?"

Dr. Lee gave Willow a gentle nudge with his elbow, a silent cue to hush up. Willow took the hint and shut her mouth.

Josefina, unfazed by the chatter, grabbed some tools from a nearby case. She meticulously scraped some debris into a test tube and sprayed a reagent over the spot. Instantly, the treated area stood out like a sore thumb.

The sight left everyone, especially Willow, utterly gobsmacked.

"How is that even possible?" Willow whispered, eyes wide.

Josefina calmly replied, "We won't know for sure until we run some tests."

She packed the samples into a case and with a nod to Oliver, they both headed out.

Dr. Lee was quite surprised to see Oliver so genuinely helpful, playing the role of an assistant without a hitch.

...

Oliver dropped Josefina off at the lab, where Percy and the team were waiting for her to join them in the experiments. As for Oliver, he had to say goodbye to his wife and head back to work.

Josefina waved Oliver off and entered the lab, her gentle demeanor giving way to a steely determination.

Inside, Percy was waiting. As Josefina drew near, he seemed momentarily thrown off.

"Josie, did you really marry Oliver?"

Percy had been overseas and missed the wedding celebration. When a slightly tipsy Luke had spilled the beans, he couldn't believe it.

Josefina flashed her ring with a soft smile. "Yup, we tied the knot."

Percy managed a somewhat awkward grin. "Congrats, Josie."
