Finley's gaze casually drifted over to Livia, making her feel all sorts of awkward. She quickly snagged a corner seat, using Josefina and Oliver as a shield to block Finley's view. No way was she letting him catch a glimpse of her.
Just as Finley was about to sneak a peek, Percy casually stepped in, blocking him completely. "You might wanna get a full check-up," Percy suggested. "Who knows, maybe someone spiked your drink."
Finley blinked, completely thrown off. "What??" But then, a light bulb went off. Percy's advice wasn't so out there after all. A hospital visit? Sounded like a plan. Better safe than sorry, right? Health is key.
He shot another glance at Livia. "Hey, Livia, you should probably get checked too."
Livia stayed mum, which didn't faze Finley. He'd expected it. Josefina leaned over and whispered, "Seriously, Livia, it wouldn't hurt to get a check-up."
Livia gave a slight nod, and Finley felt a wave of relief wash over him.
Percy jumped back in, "These folks are getting desperate. They're targeting people close to us since they can't think of a better plan. Josie, make sure to give your family a heads-up. Be on the lookout for any shady characters trying to get close."
Oliver wasn't thrilled about Percy calling Josefina "Josie" so casually. Wasn't he supposed to be more discreet? Oliver shot Percy a look sharp enough to make anyone flinch. Percy, being the science guy, couldn't quite match Oliver's CEO presence.
Josefina nudged Oliver, signaling him to chill out and not make things awkward for everyone.
Standing up, Josefina said, "Now that everything's out in the open, you all need to be extra cautious. Jarred's come up with this capsule you can carry around. It’s like a bug repellent."
Everyone knew exactly what kind of "bugs" she was talking about.
Finley chimed in, "Hey, sis-in-law, save a few for me, will ya? Better safe than sorry."
