Oliver wrapped his arms around Josefina, sharing his warmth to chase away the shivers she felt. It wasn't just the room's chill; fear had gripped her heart.
"Josie, don’t worry," Oliver whispered softly, trying to soothe her. "It was just a dream. It's not real, just a figment of your imagination."
Josefina clung to his strong arm, slowly pulling herself out of the nightmare's clutches. Lately, her dreams had been haunted by lab-related images, and tonight’s was particularly vivid.
"I'm okay now," she murmured, "but I could really use some hot water."
"I’ll get it," Oliver said, gently tucking the blanket around her before heading to the kitchen. He returned soon with a steaming cup of water.
Josefina sipped at it, grateful for the warmth. Oliver handed her another cup, this one filled with strawberry-flavored milk. "Here, have some of this. I know you like the taste."
The familiar sweet flavor brought a small smile to Josefina's lips, lifting her spirits. "I’m okay now," she said, setting the cup aside.
Oliver settled back beside her, wrapping her in his embrace once more. "You should get some sleep, Oliver," Josefina gently protested. "You won’t have the energy to work tomorrow if you don't rest."
Oliver didn’t budge. "Josie, it’s almost dawn. You should try to get some sleep too."
With that, he scooped her up and laid her down on the bed, joining her under the covers. Just as she was about to move, Oliver leaned over her with a playful glint in his eyes.
"How about I help you fall asleep?" he suggested with a wink.
"You’re going to lull me to sleep?" she asked, intrigued.
"Absolutely," he replied with a confident smile. "I promise you’ll sleep like a baby."
