Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1227

Josefina was more certain than ever about what she had to do. But now, the trail had gone cold. She couldn’t find a single solid lead through Makiko or Cole—no matter how hard she tried, there was nothing she could actually use.

No evidence meant she was just swinging at shadows. Totally pointless.

“Boss, I sent someone to pretend to be Lucy for the eye surgery, but it looks like they figured out Lucy’s with us. No one’s shown up,” someone reported.

Josefina let out a sigh. “Another dead end. These people are way too careful.”

Careful wasn’t even the word. It was obsessive—almost freakish. The second any of their pieces got exposed, that was it. Game over.

“I’ll try a different angle and keep digging, Boss,” Luke said, trying to reassure her.

“Be careful, and watch your back,” Josefina replied.

“I will.”

She hung up, checked the USB drive to make sure there weren’t any viruses, and sent a copy over to Darren.

Moments later, Darren messaged back, clearly excited. “Josefina, do you ever run out of surprises? We’re still scrambling for evidence, and here you are, handing it over. Thank you, seriously.”

Josefina smiled. “You’re being too polite, Darren. I’m just doing my part.”

She wanted to get to the bottom of this, and teaming up with the authorities could only help her get there faster. That thought alone made her feel a little lighter, the stress finally easing up.

“Josefina, do you have time to come down to the station?” Darren asked, his voice a little hesitant. “There’s something I’d like your help with, if you don’t mind.”

She could hear the awkwardness, so she jumped in first. “I’m free, Darren. I’ll head over now.”

“Thank you, Josefina.” Darren was already thinking about telling the University of Melbourne all about what Josefina had done. A student like her deserved every award they could give—certificates, recognition, the whole deal.
