Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1263

Zachary sat down and stretched out his arm.

Josefina’s fingers found his pulse. Around them, students from neighboring booths leaned in, curious to see if Josefina—the girl who’d topped the finals—could actually cure Zachary’s headache.

Was she really as amazing as everyone said?

For a moment, all eyes were on Josefina, waiting to see if she’d pull it off or fall flat.

She lifted her fingers from Zachary’s wrist.

“I knew it,” Zachary said with a sigh. “There’s no way you can fix my headache. It runs in the family. My mom gets them too.”

Wilson piped up, “Josefina, you’re bold enough to run a free clinic but you can’t even fix Zachary’s headache?”

Josefina didn’t respond. Instead, she opened her silver needle kit. The neat row of acupuncture needles glinted in the sunlight, looking both impressive and a little scary.

Zachary stared at her, wide-eyed. “What are you planning to do?”

What—was she going to silence him for good?

Josefina raised an eyebrow. “Come on, with everyone watching, you think I’d kill you? Show some guts, Zachary. Don’t act like such a wimp.”

Mandy grinned. “Are you even a man?”

“Of course I am!” Zachary shot back.

Wilson snorted. “If he’s not a man, does that make him a woman?”

Josefina glanced at Wilson, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. “He’s definitely not a woman. But you…” She eyed him up and down. “Not so sure.”

Wilson’s face turned red. “Excuse me?”

That was a straight-up insult! Josefina had just roasted him in front of everyone.

“You’re just talking nonsense. Just treat him already!” Wilson grumbled, still fuming.

Josefina ignored him and took out a needle, her expression suddenly serious. “Zachary, I’m about to start. You ready? Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you.”

“She’s only been at med school for, what, half a year? That’s a lot of confidence for a newbie. I guess big risks mean big rewards, huh?”

Wilson jumped in, “See, Josefina? No one here actually believes you can do this. What if you fail to fix Zachary’s headache? What then?”

Josefina shot him a look. “And what do you want me to do? Make a bet? If you trust me, let me try. If you don’t, you can leave. I’m not going to play along just because you dare me.”

Please. Did they really think she’d bet on this? What could they offer that was even worth it?

Mandy spoke up, “If you’re just here to cause trouble, go elsewhere. Josie’s helping for free, and you guys are just making things harder.”

Wilson, still annoyed, pressed, “So if something goes wrong, you’re not taking responsibility?”

Josefina shrugged. “Here’s the deal—if I don’t fix his headache, I’ll leave the University of Melbourne.”

If we’re going to play, let’s make it interesting.

Wilson’s eyes lit up. Now that was a bet he liked.
