Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 599

Kale walked briskly into Josefina's office and took a seat.

"Ms. Josefina, you wanted to see me?"

Josefina's face lit up with a warm smile. "Kale, you know I'm heading back to school soon. With all the orientation and activities, I won't have the time to manage the company. I need you to take over. You're already familiar with everything here, and I know you'll pick it up quickly."

Kale was taken aback, immediately shaking his head. "Ms. Josefina, I'm not cut out for that. I'm just a secretary."

Josefina chuckled softly, slightly exasperated. What would she do if Kale refused?

Kale shifted nervously in his seat as Josefina continued, "Kale, I believe in you. You're more than capable of handling this. Just manage things for now, and I'll step in whenever I can."

Before Kale could object again, Josefina added, "Don't you want to help me out? Take some weight off my shoulders?"

Faced with Josefina's earnest appeal, Kale was at a loss for words. His entire career had been about supporting her.

Feeling cornered by her plea, Kale reluctantly nodded. "Ms. Josefina, I'll manage the company temporarily. But once you're back, I'll go back to being your secretary."

"Kale, you know this business inside and out. You're perfect for this role. Don't stress too much. I'll be around whenever I can."

Josefina's unwavering trust made Kale silently vow not to disappoint her.

"Let everyone know we have a meeting in ten minutes. I'll announce your promotion then."

Kale nodded and hurried off to spread the word.

...

In the conference room, Josefina sat next to Kale.

"I have some personal matters that will keep me away from the office for a while," she began. "Kale will be stepping in to manage the company. Any issues, big or small, can be taken to him."

The room buzzed with surprise.

Josefina admitted, "Yes, it's me. That's why I need to focus on my studies. But I'll visit the office whenever I can."

The excitement was palpable. They were thrilled to be working with the valedictorian, especially given how tough this year's exams were, yet Josefina had aced them.

The news stirred a mix of emotions; they were reluctant to see Josefina step back. Her leadership had been the driving force behind the company's success. Without her, they felt unmoored.

After a long discussion, Josefina invited the team out for a meal. After work, they all gathered for a feast.

Kale had booked a spot at a barbecue joint. Grilling meat on a hot summer's day and washing it down with cold beer was the perfect way to celebrate.

...

After a few beers, Josefina was feeling a bit tipsy. Her phone rang, and with blurry eyes, she answered it.

Oliver's gentle voice came through, "Josie, have you finished dinner? Can I come pick you up now?"
