Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 618

Mr. Marquez hung up the phone, pacing back and forth in his office, his mind buzzing with thoughts.

Finally, after much hesitation, he sent a quick message to Big Boss Yu: “Hey, sorry to bother you, but how old are you this year? I saw a girl at the University of Melbourne today who really reminded me of you. Is she your daughter?”

Staring at his phone, Mr. Marquez wondered if he'd crossed a line.

Before he could retract the message, he realized it was too late.

“Damn it!” he muttered under his breath.

Quickly, he sent another message: “Sorry about that, Big Boss Yu. Had a bit too much to drink and sent the wrong message.”

He tossed his phone aside, trying to shake off the embarrassment.

Why did he always manage to say the wrong thing?

As the military training wrapped up, Josefina’s roommate Joelle called her out for dinner with their other roommates, Damita and Haylee.

“I’ve got something to handle, you guys go ahead,” Josefina told them.

Without much fuss, the trio headed out for a meal.

Josefina walked briskly, the day’s heat becoming unbearable.

Eventually, she reached Mr. Marquez's office.

She knocked, and Mr. Marquez quickly opened the door.

Seeing Josefina at the doorstep, he stood there, dumbfounded, before a wave of excitement washed over him.

“Big Boss, it’s really you!” Mr. Marquez exclaimed, rubbing his hands together in glee.

Josefina stepped inside, and Mr. Marquez closed the door behind her. He handed her a cup of warm water and fetched some cold sodas from the fridge.

“Thanks,” said Josefina, taking a sip of the water.

“I should get going,” Josefina said, making her way out of the office. Not long after her departure, a figure lurking around the corner also disappeared.

The day’s military training hadn’t worn Josefina out too much. She made it a habit to exercise daily, running for at least half an hour each morning. Having experienced high-intensity training before, she wasn’t too phased by the fatigue.

As they were packing up, the three roommates noticed Josefina was leaving and not planning to sleep in the dorm.

“Josefina, do you live in Westwood?” Haylee inquired.

Josefina hummed in affirmation, “I’ve told the counselor I won’t be sleeping in the dorm at night.”

“Living in Westwood, you must be pretty well-off, huh?” Joelle joked.

“It's enough to get by,” Josefina replied vaguely.

Just then, Josefina received a call from Annika. Speaking in hushed tones as if afraid of being overheard, Annika said, “Ms. Josefina, there’s been a problem. You need to come back.”
