Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 636

Xavier, what a piece of work that guy is. His antics could practically write a drama series all on their own.

First, he had some goon mess with Mandy, only to swoop in like a knight in shining armor to "save" her and win her over. It's like something straight out of a cheesy movie.

...

When Alivia woke up, Hattie was right there, helping her sit up and filling her in on how Josefina had come to her rescue. Alivia stayed silent, her mind a jumble of emotions. She never would've guessed that Josefina, of all people, would be the one to save her.

"Mom, Josie's got some serious skills. If things get worse, maybe we should let her give it a shot," Hattie suggested.

Alivia remained quiet, and Hattie didn't push further.

"Grandma, Mom, I need to step out for a bit," Josefina said, walking over. She figured sticking around might not be the best idea, giving Hattie and Alivia some space to talk seemed like the right move.

"And you're using my medicine as an excuse to skip out on rest?" she chided.

"Josie, don't be mad. I promise I'll take it easy, okay?" Oliver pleaded.

...

They found themselves at a cozy diner, where Josefina ordered a feast—dumplings, steamed buns, tofu pudding, spicy soup, and soy milk. She was in her element, savoring a pork bun with delight. Oliver, following her lead, found the taste quite appealing. Whatever Josefina enjoyed, Oliver was more than happy to share.

"Oliver, you've got to try these greasy buns. They're delicious. I'll stick with the spicy soup, you can have the soy milk," she said, handing him some food.

Oliver complied, tasting whatever she handed him.

After finishing their meal, Oliver broached the idea again, "Josie, be my secretary for the day. Just hang out with me, okay? Whatever you crave, I'll have George fetch it."

Josefina was speechless. Why was Oliver so keen on having her play secretary?

Before she could respond, her phone rang. She picked it up to answer...
