In the dead of night, a nurse wheeled in a cart to deliver medication.
"Miss Sydney, it's time for your meds," she announced, waking Sydney from her sleep.
Initially fuming for being woken up, Sydney's anger subsided upon remembering she was in a hospital. She cooperatively took her medicine.
"Miss Sydney, I need to change your dressing. We have to switch it out to ease the pain in your leg," the nurse informed her.
With a grunt of acknowledgment, Sydney lay still, allowing the nurse to tend to her wound. Once the nurse had left, the room fell silent once more.
...
The next morning brought a shrill scream as Sydney discovered she couldn't move her leg.
A doctor came in to examine her, delivering unsettling news. "Your wound is infected, and the toxin is spreading. You won't be able to stand for the time being," he explained, though his tone suggested a grim prognosis.
Sitting up in bed, fury took hold of Sydney. "My leg was fine before! It must have been that nurse last night, she said she was changing my dressing!"
The doctor was perplexed. "Miss Sydney, we don't usually change dressings at night."
Realization struck Sydney; she'd been set up. However, upon checking the hospital's surveillance footage, they found it had been tampered with the previous night.
Enraged, Sydney vowed to uncover the perpetrator.

Garrett chimed in, "Keep a low profile, little brother. Remember what happened with JoyLife Tech a couple of years back?"
Reid's face fell. "Why do you always have to bring that up? Can't a guy dream?"
Josefina, sitting quietly to the side, felt a pang of guilt. As the secret backer of Yunqiao Tech, she was intimately involved in its operations. Every product they released had her approval.
"Reid, just do your best. Even if you don't win, you'll always be the best Reid in my eyes," Josefina said, offering her support.
"Thanks, Josie. Your words mean the world to me," Reid responded, touched.
Garrett and Hattie exchanged looks, deciding to hold their peace. "We're not trying to discourage you, son. Just keep a low profile. After all, we're rooting for you to win," Hattie reassured him.
