"Hey, I heard Rowan was looking for you? You don't have to see him or worry about what he says. If he calls, just block him, okay?" Oliver's voice was calm, but there was an undeniable firmness to it.
Josefina knew it was only a matter of time before Oliver found out. She didn't deny it.
"I think someone's put a spell on your dad, making him marry Sydney without thinking straight."
In the privacy of their empty room, Josefina wasn't worried about being overheard.
"Why do you think that?" Oliver asked, clearly puzzled.
"Because I found signs of some hex on your dad. I suspect Sydney isn't really in love with him; she's just after his money."
Oliver thought about Josefina's words, then said, "I had my suspicions about that too. I even sent some people to investigate, but they found nothing. You know, I never believed in love at first sight until I met you."
Josefina was momentarily speechless.
"Oliver, you fell in love with me at first sight?"
"Absolutely." Oliver's response was straightforward, a heartfelt confession.
Sitting on the couch, Josefina's face was as fresh as a newly peeled egg, her smile soft. "You know, love at first sight is just a fancy term for lust at first sight."
"And what about you? Did you fall for me at first sight?" Oliver's voice had a teasing charm.
"Oliver, I'm not that shallow." She wasn’t about to admit it.
Oliver didn't push further. He laughed and said, "Josie, I'll be back in a few days. Make sure you miss me."
"Oliver, I will. I better go now, or my mom will think I've passed out in here."
After hanging up, Josefina got ready and stepped out.
