Joelle stood off to the side, waiting until Cash had walked away before leaning in to whisper to Shay, "Didn't you say you knew Dr. Cash? When you greeted him, he acted like he'd never seen you before."
Shay was taken aback by Cash's apparent amnesia, especially when it left her feeling so exposed and humiliated.
Cash's voice carried a chill as he addressed her, "Miss, telling tales isn't exactly admirable. When did you say we met? I don't recall ever seeing you."
With every eye on Cash, his frosty demeanor shifted the spotlight onto Shay.
Was Shay trying to get in Dr. Cash's good graces only to be rebuffed?
"I've never laid eyes on you. Stop spreading stories," Cash said icily, leaving Shay's cheeks burning with embarrassment as he turned on his heel and walked away.
Joelle, her voice barely above a whisper, asked, "Shay, you didn't fib to me, did you? You don't really know Dr. Cash, do you?"
Shay's icy glare made Joelle jump.
"Joelle, are you questioning me?"
Joelle, visibly rattled, plastered on a placating smile, "No, no, I just can't believe how rude Dr. Cash was to you."
Shay's expression softened, and she managed a smile, "Why don't you head over and grab a snack? I'll call if I need you."
Joelle nodded eagerly and made a quick exit.
Shay stood there, looking as though she'd seen a ghost.
...
Josefina and Livia were chatting away, having caught the whole embarrassing scene with Shay.
Livia chuckled, "Shay just doesn't learn, does she? She keeps going up against you and losing every time."
"Oliver, honey, we're as stuck as you are. Josie hasn't exactly claimed us either," Hattie said with a sigh.
Oliver realized they were all in the same tricky situation, sharing a moment of camaraderie.
"Josie likes to keep things low-key, and we go along with it," Garrett added.
With no other option, Oliver could only continue to indulge Josie's wishes.
As everyone mingled, Cash approached Josefina, and they shared a laugh, chatting like old pals, leaving Shay and Sydney stunned.
"Josefina knows Cash? No way! Cash has never even been to Westwood, and according to what we found out, Josefina doesn't know Cash!"
Sydney was equally thrown off, "Josefina, that crafty girl, has been keeping secrets!"
