Jane watched Sydney and Shay, the anticipation in the air as thick as the aroma of a Thanksgiving feast.
Sydney, with the confidence of someone who’s been around the block a few times, laid out the plan. "Tomorrow's the big day, and Josefina's playing. Just find a moment to slip the ‘gift’ on her, and she’ll be eating out of your hand."
Jane considered Sydney's words, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you sure I’ll be able to get close to Josefina?"
Sydney couldn’t promise that, but she was a master at making things sound easy. "Ms. Jane, I've got it all figured out. At the event, you’ll have your shot. Stick with Shea, and when the awards are being handed out and everyone’s mingling, you can make your move. It'll be a piece of cake," Sydney assured, her words smooth as butter.
Shay jumped in, eager to close the deal. "Boss, I'll find the perfect spot for you, so you can do what you need to do without a hitch."
Their pitch was convincing enough to win Jane over.
Sometimes, you've just got to dive in.
"Alright, I’m in," Jane agreed, prompting a sigh of relief from Sydney and Shay. They’d successfully brought Jane on board.
...
Josefina emerged from the bathroom, catching Oliver's eye. Wrapped in a white nightdress with her hair bundled under a towel, she looked like she’d stepped out of a dream.
Oliver approached with a hairdryer, ready to lend a hand. "Oliver, shouldn't you be heading out?" Josefina's voice was lost in the noise of the dryer.
Once her hair was dry, Josefina stood, hinting again at his departure.
But Oliver had other ideas. He scooped Josefina up and gently laid her on the bed, his actions speaking volumes.
"Josie, you know what they say? Once you’ve tasted something good, you’ll want it every day. Missing even one meal is unbearable."
Josefina was speechless, her protest silenced by Oliver's kiss. In that moment, her only thought was to keep Oliver from getting too used to these 'meals.'
