Josefina knew she had to keep her cool around Reid. She definitely couldn't let him know she was already a sharpshooter.
Luke, her trusty sidekick, wasn't convinced. "Boss, you've been handling guns since forever. Think you can really pull off the newbie act?"
"Of course," Josefina insisted, her mind buzzing with ways to make it convincing. "Can't let all of Reid's hard work go unnoticed."
Just then, Calix burst into the room.
"Sis!"
Josefina's heart skipped a beat hearing her brother's voice.
"Calix, aren't you supposed to be filming? What brings you back so soon?"
"Grandpa told me you were home, so I had to come see you. I've got a night shoot later, so there's plenty of time."
"What's Reid up to? Got targets and everything, I see," Calix said, moving closer to check things out.
Josefina followed, her curiosity piqued.
With everything set up, Reid was ready to give Josefina a crash course in shooting. But when he turned around, it was Calix he saw instead.
"Carter, what are you doing back?" Reid couldn't hide his annoyance at the interruption.
Unbothered, Calix replied, "Sis, let me show you the ropes. Next time you run into someone with a gun, you'll handle it like a pro."
"I'm down to teach her too," Calix added eagerly.
"Carter, you're always on set. You think you still got those shooting skills?" Reid teased. "Don't wanna embarrass yourself in front of her."
"Hand it over!" Calix snatched the gun from Reid's grip.
With confidence, he stepped up, aimed, and fired at the target.
Brimming with self-assurance, Calix watched as Reid checked the target and brought it back.
