"Dad, you're the one being stubborn here! Sydney's not like that, you've got it all wrong. While other people might marry troublemakers, I sure didn't. Just because others have made mistakes doesn't mean I have too."
Brandon just stood there, speechless.
Bennett, watching from the sidelines, almost felt like clapping for Rowan, amazed at how clueless he could be.
Rowan was as stubborn as a mule, refusing to listen to anything Brandon had to say.
Brandon tossed a folder at him. "Take a good look at this!"
Rowan opened it and couldn't believe his eyes.
But he quickly tried to keep his cool.
Brandon, with a commanding presence, pointed his cane at Rowan. "You fool! You've been duped for twenty years and you're still strutting around like you've got it all figured out. Do you even get what's going on?"
The folder Rowan held was a dossier on Sydney.
Josefina and Oliver had dug up the information, put it together, and handed it to Brandon.
Furious, Brandon had come to Rowan's place to see how long his son would keep up this charade.
"This can't be real! This is all fake, made up! How can you fall for this crap? It's gotta be Oliver, that backstabber, just trying to get me to kick Sydney out!"
Bennett had heard enough, his brow furrowed in frustration.
"Master Rowan, Master Oliver is not the kind of guy to make stuff up!"
"Is it your place to speak up? Why are you butting in?"
Brandon's cane came down hard on Rowan's leg.
"Bennett watched you grow up; he's like family. Rowan, if you dare to talk back to Bennett, what's next? Are you going to talk back to me?"
Rowan's left leg throbbed in pain, and just as he was about to speak, Brandon's stern look shut him up.
Brandon's icy stare almost made Rowan want to crawl into a hole.
