Livia stood there, feeling a tangled web of emotions that weighed heavily on her mood.
...
As she walked into the restaurant, she ran into Josefina.
"Finley asked me to let you know he's just pretending to play along with Shay. It's all part of our plan to have Shay turn state's evidence. Finley's agreed to cooperate, but only if I tell you the truth," Josefina explained, bringing Livia back to the recent events.
"Josie, I ran into him earlier. He even messaged me to clear up any misunderstandings," Livia said, surprised at their unexpected encounter.
Josefina was momentarily taken aback. What were the odds of them crossing paths like that?
Livia sat down and continued, "Josie, I checked out the lead you gave me. Those folks are definitely trying to use Sydney to get at Oliver. If they find out Oliver has imprisoned and harmed Sydney, Shay, and Dominic, they'll use public opinion to tear him down."
Luckily, Oliver had the sense to call the authorities and remove himself from the equation.
"Do you know who those people are?" Josefina asked.
Livia shook her head. "No, they're just small-time lackeys doing the dirty work. The real masterminds haven't shown themselves. But now that Sydney and the others are out of the picture, those people won't just sit back. They're bound to strike hard."
"Shay's agreed to become a state's witness, and I've got a backup plan ready. Once Shay and Dominic are released, we'll find out who they contact," Josefina said confidently.
Surprised and smiling, Livia said, "Josie, your confidence is reassuring. Looks like you've got everything figured out."
With a smile, Josefina poured Livia a cup of hot water.
Livia noticed Josefina was only drinking plain water and teased, "Why aren't you having coffee?"
After a moment of thought, Josefina decided to share the news of her pregnancy with Livia.
"What! Josie, you're pregnant?" Livia exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock and delight.
