Mom, Don't Cry! Here comes a new Daddy! novel Chapter 137

Chapter 121-1

Chapter 121-2

“And your father never recovered. Never remarried. Never moved forward. Because he loved her too much. Let her become his entire world. When she left, he had nothing” Gran’s voice gets quieter. “Is that what you want? To love someone so much that losing them destroys you?”

“I want to love someone. Period. And I want your blessing. But if I can’t have both, I’ll choose love.”

The words hang between us.

Gran’s expression doesn’t change but something shifts behind her eyes.

“This is the first time you’ve spoken to me this way. Do you know that?”

“Maybe that’s my fault. Maybe I should have spoken up sooner.”

“And for who? For a woman you’ve known less than a year? A woman who brings nothing to this family besides complications and a child who isn’t yours by blood?”

“Don’t talk about Jake like he’s a burden-”

“I’m not saying he’s a burden. I’m saying he’s a complication. One you don’t have to take on. You could find someone without that baggage. Someone appropriate. Someone who fits.”

“I don’t want someone who fits! I want Sabrina!”

Gran takes a breath. Lets it out slowly.

When she speaks again, her voice is softer. Almost gentle.

“Ethan. Listen to me. I know you think you love this woman. But infatuation fades. The excitement of something new wears off. What’s left is reality. And the reality is that you and Sabrina come from different worlds. Have different values. Different expectations.”

I laugh.

Gran frowns, “What about what I said is so funny?”

“Everything.” I say, finally stopping, “Because I’m talking to you about love, and you…you’re talking to me about deals.”

I’ve seen Sabrina with Jake. Seen the way she fights for him. The way she puts his needs first..

She’d walk away from me in a heartbeat if she thought I was bad for her son.

And I feel that same protectiveness for Jake.

For Sabrina.

That kind of love doesn’t come with a price tag. It comes naturally.

It doesn’t look at differences or values.

Because differences and values have no meaning, no place in the relation of the heart.

Chapter 121-

Claim

4-wanted your approval,” I tell Gran quietly. “More than anything, I wanted you to meet Sabrina and see what I see. To give us your blessing. Because you’re the most important person in my life. You became that after Mother died. You raised rne. Shaped me. Made me who I am.”

Something softens in Gran’s face.

“But I see now that I was wrong. Not about Sabrina. About thinking you’d understand.” I straighten up. “So here’s what’s going to happen. I’m going to marry her. With or without your approval. And you can either be part of our lives or not. Your choice.”

Gran’s jaw tightens. “You’re giving me an ultimatum?”

“I’m telling you what’s going to happen. And what’s going to happen is that I’m going to marry Sabrina. I’m not choosing between you because there is no choice. Sabrina is my future. And if you can’t accept that, then maybe you need to think about what’s more important-your pride or your grandson.”

“My pride has nothing to do with-”

I don’t wait to hear the rest of her words, as I turn and walk out.

I’m done being patient. I’m done waiting for her blessings.
