Chapter 60-1

Cash and I were in the middle of unloading the rest of the gravel from the bed of my truck, when his cell

phone began to ring continuously. As he jumped off the bed of the truck to retrieve his phone, I felt an

immense pain in my right arm, making me drop my shovel, before I felt the sense of fear taking over my

emotions.

As Cash answered his phone, and the sound of Mazie’s distressed voice rang out through the speaker, I

knew right then and there that what I was feeling at that moment were Raven’s emotions and pain.

I didn’t even need to tell Cash to get in the truck, as we both heard the fear in Mazie’s cries for help, to

know that we were now on borrowed time, to get to Raven and her. As I sped down the lane, and Cash tried to calm Mazie enough to get their location, I pulled out onto the main road on two wheels, heading

straight to town, flooring it.

Knowing that we were a good ten minutes from their location, even at the speed I was driving, I knew that

I had to bring our father in on this one, in the hope that he was within the vicinity of them, with his tracking

party.

My mind was now racing about why Raven was in the cemetery in the first place, when she had told us that she was heading to the library. Of all the places she could have gone to, why the cemetery? There was

nothing there for her. No family plots, no one to visit.

Nevertheless, she was there, and so was a rogue wolf, leading me now to believe that we had not just a rogue Alpha on our hands, but a pack of rogues too, all targeting our mate. Something about it felt unsettling, as it wasn’t normal for rogues to continuously target the same person, not alone a human girl.

It was madness for me to think this way, but my gut was now telling me that someone within the pack had

to hire them, to eliminate our mate, as it was clear that they were here for Raven. Josie’s death must have just been their way of trying to cover their tracks of the real reason why they were here, but it left me wondering who was responsible for this.

With the cemetery gates finally now in my sight, I barely brought the truck to a screeching halt, before Cash and I jumped out, feeling the urgency to get to our mate. Mazie appeared by the gates alone, tears

pouring from her eyes, with Raven nowhere in sight.

Cash rushed to Mazie, wrapping his arms around her to comfort her, as I asked her, “Where is Raven?”

Through her sobs, she says to me, “I don’t know. She ordered me to leave her.”

“You left her alone with a rogue?” I growled, upset that Mazie would leave Raven behind to save herself.

Mazie lowered her head to me in defeat, as she said, “You don’t understand. I couldn’t fight the order that

she had given me.”

I didn’t have time for this nonsense that she was spewing from her lips. Raven was a mere human that

didn’t possess the authority to yield commands to our kind, leading me to believe that she left her future Luna to fend for herself.

“I’ll deal with you later. Hold her as a growl rumbled from my chest, before I took off running into the

cemetery following Raven’s sweet scent, but her scent wasn’t the only thing I now smelled in the air, as the

dreadful smell of iron accompanied it, making me fear the worst.

As I raced towards Raven’s scent, the sound of a howl came from deep within the cemetery, telling me

that my father was here, giving me the hope that so desperately needed that Raven had made it. Passing

the two oak trees where I had found Chase the other day, I had to wonder what the hell Raven was doing

this deep within the cemetery, and so close to where they had found Josie’s body. All those questions I

had though gone out the door, when Raven’s petite figure came into my sight.
